PFT: Bears might rather face Newton

Mr. Scot

I'll give him one advantage: Anderson does legitimately tend to get the ball out a little quicker than Newton does. And I'll grant that this is magnified behind a porous offensive line.

That one thing though is not enough to make him a better passer. Newton is still the better passer overall.

There's no way I'd sit Newton unless I felt he were too injured to play, and I don't believe that's true right now.

I'm really hoping it doesn't become true

Did it appear that the play calling was a little different when DA was in the game? To me it seemed like it, but it could be Cam looking for the bigger play as well.

There's some credence to DA being a better pocket passer than cam. As hobbled as cam is, I think Anderson may give us a better shot to win in the extremely short term. The right call is to go with cam though unless the line can't protect at all.

I think cam needs to follow mcnair's career trajectory. As he ages, with bucks and minor injuries, he won't be able to play superman forever. We've seen him improve in the pocket, and if we leave him there, now that he can't escape as easily, I think he will develop even more quickly. A few growing pains but well with living through.

I can envision a more pocket developed cam when he gets his wheels back but before he ages too much that could be fantastic.

Enlighten me on the growing pains we've seen from Cam in the pocket this season? He's been extremely efficient in the pocket.

There is no credence IMO.

Cam the pocket passer is playing great. Yes he isn't Superman right now.....but DA doesn't being any of that.

It would have to be.

Would you expect to run the same plays with Derek Anderson that you could with Cam Newton?

DA also played in the only game with a somewhat functional rush attack.....which makes playcalls work that otherwise don't

Plus, there are different playcalls every week. Opponent even causes Shula to call games different even if fans don't acknowledge it

Was thinking the same thing.

Why do all the trolls or non fans (would have to be with his comments) come out, trying to pretend they actually like The Panthers?

Don't they know, we can tell how much of a fan they are (or at least watch the team) by what they say about the team or QB? :startle:

I really wonder how close to being 100% Cam is. There is no doubt Cam is better than DA. He does seem to be les effective later in games after taking a few hits.

It will never happen but why not start DA and let Cam come off the bench. They have been pulling Cam to protect his health at the end of games anyway. This way you have a less banged up Cam for the stretch drive and if DA is winning he gets another week to heal.

Is this a serious post?

And if so; why?

Please explain.

It appears to me Cam is less likely to run in the first half of games saving something for the second half. Both the run game and the pass protection suffers.

The thought is to start DA and keep him in as long as we are winning or the game is close. Have Cam come in at Halftime if necessary and take half the hits. I believe he would be more aggressive with his legs and we would have a fresher Cam when it comes time to win the game. The D would have to honor the option fakes like they tend to do earlier in games before knowing Cams status.

I don't see this team blowing anyone out and this way you have a fresher stud at the end when the game is won or lost. I also question his stamina at this point with all the rehabbing and less conditioning work. Just an unconventional outside the box way of looking at it. It would be risky for the coaching staff from a second guessing standpoint though.

Cam has  a better arm than DA.

DA = Josh McCown.    McCown had  Lovie and the Bucs fooled so much,  that they signed him quickly and claimed him their starting qb right after.

Different system though.

If the Bucs were running a WCO like Trestman does, the results might be different.
