PFT: Bears might rather face Newton

Tampa didn't game plan for Derek Anderson at all. I don't get where this Derek gives the team a better chance to win type of thing is coming from other than you know what. It's not like Cam is going out there and stinking it up. He's had a passer rating over 94 in each of his games this year and has only turned the ball over once with no interceptions. So because Cam isn't running, you argue that Derek is going to come in and give the team a better chance. How? What is he going to do that Cam hasn't been doing? Because the offense has moved the ball well.

Derek Anderson played a sorry ass Tampa team, with a healthy Tolbert, with a Deangelo, with a JStew, with a healthy Cotchery. And on the other side of the ball Greg Hardy was on the field with a healthy Thomas Davis.

Since Cam has returned he's only had half a game with his starting running back, one game with all of his WRs healthy and Greg Hardy hasn't played at all, and Thomas Davis has been limited.

But yea lets put in DA because he'll make the defense create turnovers and put him in a good position like they did at Tampa. He'll call up the NFL and tell them to let Greg Hardy play. He'll magically heal Tolbert, Williams, and Stewart. He'll make Thomas Davis 100%. Hell he might even jump on defense and stop the run. Why? Because he obviously is the solution right now.

Florio is basing this on a characterization of Cam being a "young, mobile quarterback" in the mold of a Geno Smith or a Colon Kaepernick.  However, Cam has better accuracy and has always been a pass-first guy, which seems to be lost on a lot of these media types.

If I had to guess, I would think that Trestman couldn't be happier to face Anderson over Newton.  But Florio was smart enough to recycle football news and snark before anyone else, so maybe he's on to something here.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad we have DA on our team. He is a good guy and a good backup but I don't believe he gives us a better chance to win. Cam has been doing an excellent job of protecting the football this year. The only thing I wish Cam would learn from DA is how to get the ball out quicker especially playing behind this o-line. I do like DA as a guy to relieve Cam at times but not as a full time starter.

I really wonder how close to being 100% Cam is. There is no doubt Cam is better than DA. He does seem to be les effective later in games after taking a few hits.

It will never happen but why not start DA and let Cam come off the bench. They have been pulling Cam to protect his health at the end of games anyway. This way you have a less banged up Cam for the stretch drive and if DA is winning he gets another week to heal.

I will provide the backstory to this. Florio was on WFNZ this morning and mentioned that he spoke to people within the Ravens organization and he said the Ravens game plan was to not hurt Can Newton because they wanted to face an injured Cam instead of a healthy Anderson.

When Mac heard him say that, he said that statement ruined his day because now all the Cam haters will come out in force. Florio said he didn't realize that the healthy Anderson vs. hurt Cam was such a hot topic.

And hour later it is a topic on PFT.

Well played Florio, Well played.

i do however find it interesting he makes no mention of what he says he was told about the Ravens preferring to play Cam instead of Anderson. Said it on the radio, but not in print. Take that as you will.

I blame Mac, for allowing these people to his yank his chain like this; giving these non-stories credence in the their minds ("Hey, if the local guy thinks it, it must be true; something I can run with").

Mac, has to realize, when he's talking to these national reporters (who usually know nothing about the Panthers, and/or only looking to troll/run with a good fake story), he becomes a relay point for a lot of this nonsense.

And the WFNZ guys, sometimes get way to caught up in simple ("do you hate", "do you like discussions"). Even on the Mac Attack. They gotta learn to actually talk sports, instead of simpleton dialogue; especially with National reporters on.

Is this a serious post?

And if so; why?

Please explain.

This Derek Anderson hype is mind boggling, if people really feel like this where the hell has it been the last 3 years??

Not only that.

But this is how non stories, become MEDIA Stories by the constant nature, non story of it.

Florio's acting like a tool here, even starting this mess.

You bet others will pick up on it, without even having an iota of shame or proof.

florio speculating? where's that nicolas cage gif when i need it?

If the story about what the Ravens brass said is true though, in this case he actually does have a basis for this particular speculation (unbelievable as that may be for Florio).

I still think he's wrong, mind you, but that sadly would mean it isn't the completely baseless speculation that I expected it to be.
