Has Kony Ealy played any yet?

If we're making comparisons to cars here... I think of Ealy as a Toyota Avalon trying to trade up to a Scion. He's big, slow, and hasn't made any impressions yet.

Man, that sounds like a good idea.  Here's what I got after a few moments of thought.

Luke - Nova II SS wagon (ultimate sleeper car)

Hardy - Ferrari 250 GTO (so expensive you can't even drive it)

Cam - Bugatti Veyron but city driving only (Shula is the driver)

KB - Lamborghini Countach (dropped from space)

Foucault - Ford Excursion with lift kit

Byron Bell - Hummer Replica on a VW Beetle chassis

There's some for starters lol.

The question should be: Will Ealy become a better player than Everette Brown or be on his level of play?

Already showing more, IMO.... Plus I don't discount what Ron can do to coach a kid up. How many remember how much Hardy struggled against the run during Ron's first year? Hardy has said that Ron did a lot to get him where he is today as a player.

Our failure to stop the run has made our pass rush look terrible. Then our players press when they get a rare 3rd and long, or McDermott calls a CB blitz and the QB punishes us for it. The poor run defense has ruined our mojo by allowing teams to throw short passes that don't allow for a possible pressure or sack.

The weight room will either turn Ealy into a beast, or an Everett Brown. Time will tell.

ealy is a lot bigger than everette brown.  his build is more similar to that of greg hardy.

ron meeks was the incoming DC at the time and brown was supposed to be his dwight freeney.  they're different players.  also helps that we didn't burn a first round pick to move up and get ealy.

The thing about Freeney was his freakish ability to pass rush taking a wide angle and leaning his head and upper body into the arms of the OT to keep his balance. Every time he did it I thought he was going to fall down.

    • Agreed on the last part. They can’t afford to lose all these games with Martin and Perets.
    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
    • People here get mad when I tell them I prefer Miracle Whip over Dukes
