You guys can bash DWill all you want....

But I was honored to meet him last night at his meet and greet for Williams Warriors, his 5k fund raising team for the Susan G Komen foundation. So far Williams Warriors has raised over $30,000 this year alone for the foundation! We will also be participating in the 5k on saturday in Charlotte. Dwill is truly an amazing guy and I was fortunate to get to hear him speak on his mother and also fighting this horrible disease last night! He got emotional when talking about this season and how frustrated he was about his injuries, because he dedicated this season to his late mother. Some people transcend the football field and Dwill is one of them. There aren't words to describe what his work means to me and my family as my Great Grandmother is a breast cancer survivor. I hope we can all take a step back and appreciate what an amazing guy we have on our team! A true example of what we should all strive to be!

It should be known that most will not give a damn unless they have had some meeting/autograph/exchange a few words with a player. Until then, the majority will see them as (heaven forbid) a player on the team and base their opinions and gripes around their play.

Cool you met him. He does seem like a swell guy. That said however..he isn't on the team to meet and greet with fans, and regardless of what he has done in the past...its not getting done now (which is all that nearly everyone cares about)

I don't think anyone really has issues with D-Will the players as he's still steady to very good. It's the contract that people have issues with, which really isn't Williams' fault.

As far as D-Will off the field, he's always been awesome. Kudos to him and his charity efforts

I think that's selling some fans a little short. I think a lot of fans have added respect for DWill and his fight against breast cancer in honor of his mother without having an exchange with him. But you're unfortunately probably right that the majority base their opinions on field play alone.

I think it's cool too that he's using his status as a platform for breast cancer awareness and seems like he's doing as much as he can. Much respect.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
