1. Andrew Luck

Luck’s play in 2014 is rapidly cementing his place among the elite quarterbacks in the NFL today. He leads the league in passing yardage with 1,305 yards and touchdown passes with 13. His 7.81 yards per pass attempt and 108.0 quarterback rating are among the best in the league as well. With a rushing attach that ranks in the bottom half of the league , the Colts have been forced to rely on the third year signal-caller to carry their offense, and he hasn’t disappointed.

The Colts play in one of the weaker divisions in the NFL and have only two games remaining on their schedule against 2013 playoff teams. If Luck continues to throw the ball 40+ times a game and completes 68.9 percent of those passes, his stat sheet will be hard for MVP voters to ignore.

Sporting News names Luck the favorite for MVP

"Now He’s Really The New Peyton Manning First-Quarter MVP: Andrew Luck His Indianapolis Colts are just 2-2, but they’re rolling now because they just realized they’ve got a better Luck at quarterback. Because of it, they’ll keep on winning and let him prey on the league’s weakest schedule for video-game stats.

Luck added 393 yards and four more touchdowns in Sunday’s 41-17 laugher over Tennessee, pushing him to 1,305 and 13 for the season. If you’re into paces, that’s 5,220 and 52, or not far off Peyton’s record most valuable work in 2013. Luck has been dubbed the Chosen One, but we didn’t think he would be this choice so soon in ’14."

He has three #1 type WRs on his roster. Those are just inflated Mathew Stafford type numbers. Doesn't mean squat. They're 2-2. Lost to 2 average teams and beat 2 horrible teams. All those yardage nonsense, as if the WRs running after the catch play no part in it.

panthers fans despised these types of arguments in 2011

The vast majority of that yardage and TDs came against the Titans and Jags.

But he is playing the way people acted like he played last 2 seasons

over his last two seasons, 2012-2013, Luck was #3 in the AFC with 8,196 passing yards (average of 4,000-plus) behind P Manning and Brady. Rivers was #4. I remember a lot more people talking about Rivers than Luck last season, same as this season.

since Luck entered the league in 2012, he has thrown for 9,501 yds and 59 TD. Over that same time, Tom Brady has thrown for 9,961 yds and 63 TDs. Luck is just 460 yds and 4 TDs short of Brady, and Luck is doing a hell of a lot better than Brady this year and will likely pass him soon

after 5 games, Luck is on pace for 5,175 yards and 45 TDs

Luck's 312 passing yards Sunday vs. the Ravens were #6 in the NFL of any QB in Week 5.

Luck is #1 in the NFL with 1,617 yards, although Matt Ryan (1,579) and Drew Brees (1,574) are right on his tail. Brees and Ryan were #3 and #5 in the NFL with most passing yards thrown in Week 5

and Luck is #1 in the NFL with 14 TD passes

Luck's QB rating of 100.0 is #5 in the NFL (min 110 attempts) behind Rivers, Rodgers, Peyton Manning, and Big Ben (100.1 rating)

side note on Big Ben: he and Peyton Manning are the only two QBs with two weapons in the top 20 in the NFL in yards from scrimmage per game. Manning has #15 Demaryius Thomas (91.8 ypg) and #5 Emmanuel Sanders (113.0 ypg). Big Ben has #2 Le'Veon Bell (137.6 ypg) and #9 Antonio Brown (104.2 ypg). Rodgers has #7 Jordy Nelson (105.0 ypg), and Matt Ryan has #6 Julio Jones (110.4 ypg). Luck has nobody in the top 20. Neither do Rivers or Brees.

so playing in the weakest division and racking up yardages is okay when u're the media chosen, but when u're not, expectations are ridiculously high. i guess those who are pumping Luck up do so knowing his real limitations. But by lowering the bar for him, they get to boast about how right they r, which is all that matters to today's ego driven sports media.

Amazing how low the bars r set for these so called "elite QBs, who just happen to all be white. Welcome to the NFL's version of 21 Century football.

no QB has higher expectations of him than Luck. He was touted as the next great thing at QB, the expectations for him were ridiculous. It's a minor miracle he is living up to them. It's pretty unbelievable. Cam had it much better with the bar not set as high for him. If Luck fails to live up to the ridiculously high bar that was set for him, everyone will eat him alive.
