Hardy being advised to sit out season

Not just his choice.

IF he's not back for the Seahawks game (6 games, which is the NEW policy for a GUILTY man made AFTER his incident, which he is still likely to be INNOCENT (IMO)) I'm gonna fugging RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's still over half the season he gets to play. IF guilty (unlikely IMHO) he pays the money back for the 6 games. Appeases the wussies and we can still make a run.

This is a good point, if you want to argue that he was already found guilty why isn't he serving the mandatory 6 game suspension instead of being indefinitely parked on the commissioners exempt list?

He's already half way to serving the 6 game suspension (with time served) and that would put him back on the field before the end of November while he waits for the results of his "appeal" (which wouldn't really matter because he's already served the suspension for a 1st offense). Panthers could dock his pay for the equivalent of 6 games pending the results of his jury trial and if he's found innocent they release the funds to him.

This lets you know it's PR move/damage control and not a question of "doing the right thing".

Forget this man exists. He'll never play another down of football for Carolina. He's going to go to a new location the first chance he gets because he'll need a "fresh start" and Gettleman seems like the type to hold a grudge. He won't even make him an offer. I would bet on it.

It takes 3 years to develope good DE players....that's true with hardy and johnson as well. They broke out 3rd year

people see rookies come into the league and bust out at other positions but the conventional wisdom of DEs taking time to develop generally still rings true.  a typical starting tackle in the NFL is going to be able to handle them unless they're just freak athletes.  even hardy got his poo kicked in as a rookie and only looked slightly better in 2011.

NFLPA wouldn't fight it if they had punished Hardy when the July court date ended. If they waited until September to suspend just because a video of a different player made the media upset, you can bet your ass the NFLPA would not stand for it. They would appeal and he would be able to play until the appeal was done.

The NFLPA was more than happy to be able to steer clear of this. You keep saying that all JR had to do was keep him on the field. I'm saying the combined pressure of NFL sponsors and the NFL front office forced the Panthers to be the ones to remove him from the field. If they didn't, Hardy gets suspended by the NFL, the labor Union gets involved and the situation doesn't fade away. Our management decided to take the course that was the best for Hardy and the League. Unfortunately, that did not help our team one bit.
