Sometimes you just need to shake things up (whether internally or externally; publicly or privately with the offense/OC/Play calling)!

That's why I said "internally or externally".

 

I don't care how they do it. Whether they make a move internally and don't fire the guy, etc., is fine with me.

 

But something needs to be done to adjust this team to it's bad defense, and injured/poor running backs.

 

Plus, the receivers just look better on the field to me. Cotch, Avant, Benji, and Olsen appear to be better and more plentiful play makers than what the RB's offer.

 

Cam was covering for those guys since his arrival. And now when he's not running as much; his passing's been great,; while the OL and RB's that he covered for since his arrival--look awful. So far.

 

Let's hope it changes.

I remember when Dungy refused to fire Shula after 3 years of terrible offense. He was very loyal as well.

I noticed yesterday when the game was still within reach the offensive line sat at the bench. No coaches in their ear. No game photos being shown. They are being beat one on one, not much they can say about it.

I'm just spitballing and this is total guessing.

What if the plays that they called were executed right and that instead of going over a adjustment they just didn't have an answer for what the Ravens D was doing. Why talk to your players when you don't know what to do too change things as a coordinator.

Normally I wait at least 24 hours to post given the crazy posts and attitudes displayed after a loss on this site.  But let me discuss Shula and Ramsdell for a moment.  First of all, Ramsdell has never been an OC at any level.  He has never called a game so to assume he would be instantly better than Shula or would morph into Mike Martz because he coached under him borders on fantasy.

 

Secondly I would agree that the play calling was not great yesterday but what was.  We don't have a run game because we don't have healthy backs who can run the ball and we have an Oline which is frankly bad.  Look at how much better we were when Williams was running the ball before he got hurt.  Those were the same plays we ran after Williams went down but obviously the guys who replaced him were not good either.  And anytime you become one dimensional which is what happened when we couldn't run the ball you have defenses pinning their ears back and blitzing at will which is what happened.  Couple that with a bad O line and poor blocking by the backs and tight ends and you have the debacle that happened yesterday.

This is not Shula's fault, he is just doing what he can with what he was given.  Look at the defense and special teams if you want to cast stones not the offense.

Shula's job needs to be evaluated at some point.  I understand Shula has his style and not to say it's right or wrong, but it leaves such a small margin of error for our defense.  Even in Tampa Bay he was let go because he never generated an offense ranked over 22nd, which is consistently below average.

 

I'm not hating the man, and it's not all his fault but I feel like we are wasting time and talent with Shula.  At the very least, he needs to be evalauted.
