Man almost drowns in Freedom Park pond

Apparently a man jumped into a pond that 5.5 feet deep and drowned.  Rescuers pulled him out 23 minutes later and brought him back to live.  The man in critical condition at CMC...

 

This kind of a story makes you go WTF... I hope he recovers.

it has been nasty for for 30 years or more. I made a contribution to the pond from the Dilworth little league field. Jacked a homer into the pond.

I once saw a homeless person making a contribution to the pond... and it wasn't a baseball.

If you can't swim then stay out of the water. This is a waste of time and sadly it's not unique. All through spring and summer I've been hearing various stories of people drowning.

back in the day someone was always just slipping off into the water at Lake Wylie and drowning. As a child I was scared of Lake Wylie. I think this is the first time I have ever heard of it happening in the park.
