This team can and will fix the issues

Panthers 2 biggest issues right now are both DE's and both OTs.

Aside from 2 big runs today, Baltimore average below 3 yards a carry on 27 tries.  That's very good.

Problem arises from DE's not putting any pressure on opposing QBs...  Our front 7 is what makes our secondary great but without pressure our secondary is getting exposed for what they are... cheap rejects from other teams.  Panthers must find a way to pressure opposite team QBs.  If DE's cannot get it done, increase blitz packages.  This defense is packed with talent and it's coaches job to find a way to use this talent.

On another side of the ball, Bell and Chandler struggle mighty.  We groomed both into hog mollies but these big men struggling big time against faster DE's and LB's.  Gross was never a hog mollie... He was around 300lbs and great on his feet... very light.  Unfortunately, both Bell and Chandler looks like Sasquatches out there... big and clumsy.  They need help... what happened to 2 TE sets Shula promised to implement in the begging of the season top help cure OT problem?  We barely use 2 TE sets this year and instead we still rely heavily on conventional set which is obviously not working...

Also, losing Williams today made us 1 dimensional which is never good.  Baltimore focused on containing passing game going forward and it worked.

As much as we want to blame players, coaches are the biggest issues here.  I compared Kueckly statistic from prior year to this year and dude is actually doing very well.  The biggest issue here is Rivera coaching got exposed...  His game plan worked against Detroit and Tampa but Steelers quickly figured him out... Baltimore did exactly what Steelers did and it worked again.  You can bet your ass Chicago will come out with the same game plan Baltimore and Steelers did.  It's Rivera job to adjust and fix the issues.

From prior experience with Rivera, he always adjusts and fixes things,  The quest is when?  When we out of playoff race?  Or when it's still early in the season.

I must say, the fact the Saints are getting stomped and we are tied no 1 in the NFCs has me in a little better spirits but there is no denying this team has a TON of work to do, its just so so so mind boggling to me how our D took such a dramatic step back. I sort of have a feeling now that the Smitty drama, and Hardy drama are behind us as well as Alexander returning, I think we will bounce back

Byron Bell has been starting for 4 years straight (imagine that!) and has sucked since Day 1.  There is no fixing that.

And don't get me started on Nate Chandler.

I think our defense, in the long run, will be fine.  But I don't know how we fix our pass protection.  We can only hope to lessen the impact it has on the game by calling plays that don't take as long to develop.  However, that won't help with our awful running game.

We desperately need TD back at 100% as well. He and Frank will make a big difference. Offense really isn't that bad, we just somehow need our line to improve. We should actively try to trade for Roos or Kalil or someone who can help us. I wouldn't be against considering Roos, as he'd definitely be better than Amini and Turner on the inside. I hope the team tries to discuss bringing Hardy back after 6 games with the league, because that's what the policy is. I still have a positive outlook, but my patience is wearing thin. We need to step it up big and we need to do so very soon.

We also weren't 1 dimensional because we lost Williams, his 3ypc were nothing special and even still we ran the ball up the middle and stalled on almost every drive. Not even a 21 point deficit could speed Shula up and make him stop with the -1 to +2 yard runs up the middle.

the two biggest issues are OL and OC.

Safeties after that.

I don't know why Horton is starting over Addison btw, but we get Alexander back next week which should help.

I agree, and I also think we're stuck with what we got this year.  At this stage of the game any OT worth his weight is already on an active roster.  I know there may be a name or two out there but I just think they're out there for a reason, and I'm getting tired of us picking up guys with names I can't hardly pronounce with the hope that they might produce.  I'm ready for Shula to go, but I don't see anyone coming in and making the offense any better this year.

Part of me thinks when Gettleman talked to the press at the end of last season, he was pretty much telling everyone to expect a step back this year.  He said we were strapped by the cap and there would be guys who wouldn't be back this year.  At this point, I just want to the Panthers keep this year respectable, have an even better draft next year, and really find a guy or two who can come in and make an impact on this offense.

I agree with you completely Arsen.  This is a coaching thing.  I refuse to believe this D sucks after the first two weeks.  Detroit has a very good offense and we contained them.  The D issues can be fixed. People are saying without Hardy we are nothing, but we didn't have him week 1 and the D played great,  I also didn't see people bashing Kuechly when he deflected that deep pass and forced the fumble against Detroit.  The guy is a beast and has been a little off the last two weeks but he is still awesome.  I feel like the DT's aren't taking up blockers like they had been the first two weeks.  It is hard to fathom a D that looked so dominant can just be the complete opposite a week or two later.  But it happened and they will fix it.

Are we super bowl contenders? No, not this year, but we are a play off team and I wish they would show it.
