Where has star dissapeared to?

What I've notice is our DTs are getting doubled while our DEs are being handled one on one.

I am tired of Star and Cole starting together though. It should be Star and KK, or Star and Dwan. Cole and KK, or Cole and Dwan. Star and Cole are the same type of player, just like KK and Dwan are the same. I never got that.

Pretty much what I was going to say. Our DT's are being neutralized because of the inability of our DE's to do anything worth a damn. Losing Greg Hardy has hurt us more then I ever thought. We need to lock up Hardy long term, CJ seems to be long in the tooth and it is showing now.

IMO disciplined, run-stopping DE play has been a much bigger issue. this is where hardy's loss hurt the most. he had gotten goddamn good at stopping the run.

missing davis this week didn't help anything either.

I was against tagging Hardy in the offseason and was pretty vocal about it. I felt we had bigger needs and tagging him was a luxury we couldn't afford.

However, after the Tampa game I posted I was glad we tagged Hardy. He had 4 tackles and 1 sack and the guy is literally always around the ball. Yeah, he's a little "off" as a person but that's what makes him so effective imo. He has a motor that always goes 100%.

Looking back, maybe this is how DG felt. The money saved from tagging hardy out weighed whatever it would bring in and I can see why he felt that way. Minus the 2 drives in that Tampa game we played a near perfect defensive game and were able to play a 2013 type of game. Low scoring, defensive type game.

If Hardy is found innocent JR needs to put winning ahead of all else for once and they need to bring him back. He's an elite defensive end and those don't grow on trees.

Hardy is gone

Don't blame the sun, the moon, or anything else

Pretend he is hurt if it makes you feel better

Loss of players is a way of life in the NFL

A coach is suppose to use it up and make do

Instead of focusing on what they can't do, they need to find two key schemes they can do.

..and in the end, pray to god above there are OTs and DEs in this draft and free agency and take out the damned trash and that includes Stewart

Star Lotulelei has played well.  I'm not sure where people are getting that he has "disappeared."  Of course he won't pop up on the stat sheet often because his responsibility is to be a run stuffer.

While we are struggling to stop the run, it isn't all on him.  I think it is more of an issue with our LBs being overly-aggressive and not playing their gabs well vs. the DL, particularly Lotulelei, not holding it down in the trenches.  It isn't like RBs are blasting through the holes.  They are remaining patient, waiting for our LBs to overplay, and then taking advantage.

I have always said Hardy was the most important player on our D and defended when fans downplayed him on here. You dont give guys like that 13 million dollars for one season if they are overrated like some people claimed. It has never been all about the sacks, Hardy has always impacted the game from every prospective on defense at least for the last 2 years. He could even slide in at DT and also be pretty damn dominant and that was back when we didnt having anything at DT. I stand by saying the plan was always to keep Hardy and let CJ play out his contract at a reasonable price or cut him after this season. I love Cj but Hardy just offers us more upside going forward and unfortunately i wasnt seeing anything in CJs game to say he was gonna get any better from here on out and we are looking at having to pay him even more money as he gets up in age due to his contract. I Still think tagging Hardy was the smart move, everything after that has just been unfortunate and disappointing on Hardys part.

I think Star is playing okay. One thing i can say about him is that he plays really hard from the first snap to the last snap no matter what the score is.  He just isnt as flashy as short and edwards who are actually playing really well. The DTs are really the only unit on the defense that i would say are playing well.
