Releasing Smith had the opposite of the desired effects

we uh. we also released him because he was a massive cap hit and wouldn't develop the guy we expect to be here for the next decade or better

let's ignore that tho

Ricky Proehl is in charge of developing our fricking future Wide receiver. Not sure why this like the Delhommey opinion that we should never draft a Franchise QB "because we can't develop him" opinion is so rampant on the Huddle.

Defeatest attitude for the loss.

it seemed to be a staff consensus that smith did more harm than good when it came to helping mentor other receivers, in particular the new ones, and especially the ones with the biggest potential, because he saw them as competition, and you don't help your competition even if he's on your team.

for years this problem was outweighed by smith's productivity and the promise of continued years of productivity… but the scales finally tipped on the other side finally, and we are where we are.

i can't say enough times that i love steve smith to death and i hope he gets a ring with baltimore and makes the HOF, but all things considered the release was the right move.

We released him so cam could single handedly lead the team? Well he's injured and without smith's fire everyone is slacking. I think the issue affecting our team is we are lacking leadership rn. Sorry if this is seen as a repeat topic, but its not meant to bash or defend smith like all the other ones. I just think losing smith ironically hurt this team's spirit, especially when he was supposedly cut to help it. Also Hardy meant way more to the team than i had previously thought.

According to nfl.com, the Panthers release Smith BECAUSE HE ASKED THEM TO.

Again, what is our coaching staff paid for?

God..do u folks every stop making so much out of nothing? Smitty didn't earn the Raven 38 points. The Defense was not on their game today.  Simple as that. Let it go.

Every lost should quickly go into your rare-view mirror each week.  Stop giving credit when it really didn't go that way.Yes, the Raven gave Smitty a chance to shine against his former team. The Panthers should have been prepared psychologically for that. But, as I stated, Smitty didn't give the Ravens 38 points. U defense lack luster playing did.
