Are we going to completely ignore that Kuechly hasn't been playing well?

Luke Kuechly is good but he's a media creation, much like Andrew Luck. He's not a superstar, he's not a great player. He's a very good young player but vastly overhyped & overrated by ESPN.

Last year he was surrounded by Greg Hardy, Charles Johnson, Star Lotulelei, & Thomas Davis. All 4 of those guys are Pro Bowl caliber players and top 5 at their position. Now two of them are missing and Kuechly looks mortal.

I cringe at all the moronic fans I've heard spew how Kuechly is better & more valuable than Cam.

I like Luke but the overhyping by our fans and the media has gotten to ridiculous levels. With hardy out, davis out, and CJ not even showing up in games. Luke is looking very pedestrian on our defense. And he is the face of this team according to a lot of people so he should answer for his play just like Cam has to even though there are mitigating circumstances on both sides of the ball.

Too much responsibility right now. He feels like he has to stop offenses all by himself like it's 11 vs. 1. O-linemen are getting to his level more so than he's experienced since he's been in the league, so he's getting the new challenge of trying to fight off blockers.

this. every time i see a busted play i see luke fighting to disengage with a downfield lineman and make the tackle. he's going to have to work on that.

I still say the adjustments that Keek has to do makes him invaluable to this D. He's prone to jump running lanes, but that's part of what makes him great.  I trust his work ethic to right the ship.

The fact that our DTs are both getting double teamed, and our DEs aren't working down the line on runs is killing our run D. CJ isn't getting it done, and I'm tired of seeing Horton out there. He has looked lost at least a few times the last 2 games.

Also, TD not being healthy in week 3 and being out today has show how much we need him. Hope he's back soon.

You guys are being really fuging reactionary right now.

It's the DLine. CJ has been pure poo. Star may not actually be alive. Can somebody check on Star? Cole and Edwards have been bad. Horton has been bad. Addison is fine if all you need is a speed rush. The second they run at him, forget it. Short is the only plus player on the entire line, and they rotate the fug out of him. The line is making the entire back 7 look like total poo, from Melvin White to Luke Kuechly to Thomas DeCoud. Except for Roman Harper. That guy is fuging terrible and makes Charles Godfrey look all-world.

TD looked like crap last week as well. Is he a media creation/overrated/whatever horseshit?

It's the DLine. We get zero pressure without blitzing and with a pretty mediocre secondary that's bad fuging news.

From what I have seen, Star Lotulelei is playing well.  Getting held a lot, but he is holding his own.  The issue is the LBs are misplaying their gaps.

I love Kuechly, I really do.  I think he is still the best player on this team.  But he has a tendency to be overly-aggressive as we have seen in the past when teams run play-action against us.  DL hasn't been great but a lot of the big runs against us seem to be because our LBs aren't playing good, gap assignment football.

What do I know, but overall I think the defense is trying to do too much. They are playing undiscliplined. Sometimes have to take a step back to take a step forward. Cam is developing and think this team has a neculeus to build on. The Oline must be addressed. The GM before Gettlemen had it backwards-pay the running backs and get by on the oline, instead of pay the Oline. Oh well I hope it gets better but if I were a betting man I would say it is going to be tough sledding this season.
