So this was the guy who we were praising all offseason?

 

The guy is the reason we have regressed as a team.

 

#1 He cuts our best freaking player on offense and got nothing in return for him. Nothing!

#2 Our 2 vet lineman retires and what does he do to replace them? Nothing!

#3 We lose Ginn/Lafell 2 young WR's. What does he do add 2 old aging vets? So why did we cut Smitty?

#4 Greg Hardy nuff said.

 

It seems like cutting Steve Smith was a personal agenda from Gettleman. He thought Smitty was a me first player, so he cut him.

 

Again why cut a aging star WR Smitty? To only replace him with 2 aging average WR's?

 

 

 

Plain and simple Gettleman didn't have a plan for this season. This was basically his rebuilding year.

 

 

I still believe in this team, but we are blaming the wrong people, this is all Gettleman's fault.

Gettleman didn't show enough urgency in regards to the Oline and Safety position. To be fair he had limited resources in FA but should've done better in the draft.

 

That said many of our players are under performing. He's not to blame for that.

DG is the one to blame about Smitty and maybe for wasting a second round on a VERY OBVIOUS very RAW DE and not an OT. everything else is bs OP.

Remember Gettleman's long pause on the question of Cam being the franchise QB? I think it's kind of obvious last year he was ready to blow up the team after about week 8, but instead the team turned it around and pulled a 12-4 season out of nowhere.

I don't typically express it on the huddle but I just hated how the Smith situation went down.  It just seemed both Rivera and DG simply didn't want him here..so they released the best WR in our franchise's history.

 

Add in the Ealy pick (I'm not saying he's a bust) but there should be a balance between picking priorities v. BPA and DG seems just stubborn at times.  The stubbornness even comes out at his press conferences.  

 

Then add in the assemblage of the current O-Line after all of this annoying hog molly talk

 

And the other thing is the safety position.  I just didn't and still don't understand why Harper is here.  Just a bad pickup.  

 

I'm cool with everything else given the situation he was given coming in but as things move forward, it becomes more and more of a DG/Rivera team and it's not trending well right now.    

 

Yeah it's really infuriating to think our second and third round picks are barely seeing the field. Also what the hell happen to Boston our fourth round choice? Why isn't he starting or on IR at this point?

-He drafted Everette Brown v. 2.0.

-He did 0 to upgrade the offense.

-The defense has regressed in the secondary (I won't blame the front 7 problems on him).

-Special teams is worse, Philly Brown has adopted the Pilares strategy of run into a wall at the 20 yard line and fall down. He also played disastrously vs. Pittsburgh.

Time for the fat fug to take a look in the mirror and do a better job this offseason. We're stuck with him because we all know Jerry doesn't really care what happens as long as PSLs are renewed.

Yeah and Hurney's teams went to a super bowl in his second year, the conference championship in 2005 and playoffs in 2008. No one on here would say he's a good GM. If this is about developing the consistency we've never had then gettleman is failing us so far this season. This year is starting to look like 1997, 2004, 2006 and 2009, all the seasons where we poo the bed after a good year.

In order to develop that consistency you have to rid yourselves of the stuff that made you inconsistent and the contract situations make it difficult to move on.

Literally every move made this offseason signaled a rebuild, then when all of a sudden this team starts looking like a rebuild people flip out. I don't get it.

Week to week consistency is an issue for alot of teams this year. Look at Pittsburgh. Atlanta. Washington and Kirk Cousins. That's what happens in a league designed to make everyone 8-8.

The lesson learned here is not that Gettleman screwed up. It's that we as fans screwed up by punching our tickets to Santa Clara after Week 2.

In fairness, I was like everyone else in the midst of the game...

But Atlanta and New Orleans blew their opportunities to take advantage in spectacular fashion and this morning I have a new lease on the season (at least until the Bears game.)

In the first paragraph you answered your own question. We did nothing to truly upgrade anywhere. That's called rebuilding. At wide receiver the only difference is no one is really a liability like in past years.

Your last sentence in that paragraph is fascinating. At no point do I remember anyone in the organization saying Tiquan Underwood would be Ted Ginn. That sounds like an offseason Huddle-ism, just like "Bersin could be our #2!" and "Brandon Williams is a star!"

As far as the second paragraph is concerned you have to be looking at the big picture. Just as Rivera didn't play Davis this week for fear of losing him for the next 12 weeks, Gettleman isn't going to put all of the stock into what was, if we are really honest with ourselves, a Cinderella season.To do what he is doing cannot be easy considering he probably knew weeks like the past two were going to happen, but there is an end to the means here. It will just take longer than fans of a sport that lives off of instant gratification are accustomed to seeing.
