Report: Steve Smith asked to be released

I doubt Gettleman is going to come out just to tell the media Steve Smith asked for his release.  Gettleman couldn't care less about the criticism he gets from the media because the media is irrelevant.  Gettleman only speaks out on serious matters, not on a player who no longer is on this football team.

 

I don't care what happened, but it certainly sounds believable and likely.

He said if he demanded his release why did we tried to trade him. I said we tried to get anything we could out of this bastard. And then cut him. His wishes. But we had to do whats best for the franchise

Then why does he say he was "fired" pretty sure if he asked, Gettleman would have loved to point that out.

Gettlemen is tweaking everyone's deal and 89's would have had to be tweaked. That seems extremely believable based on what 89 did.

Also seems extremely believable 89 would say no and trade him if they think otherwise

Rappaport simply laid out the facts, contradictory to every drum the media has been banging on for Steve and Eisen brought it right back around. As Voth would say, sausage.
