Report: Steve Smith asked to be released

I think it's funny most of you guys rip Rapoport (or however he spells his dumb name) repeatedly whenever he writes something you don't want to see/hear. But as soon as he (or any other reporter) writes or says something that you like....you believe it with no questions asked.

its true. Take that liar out of your avi.

If he truly asked for a release, Gettleman would have flat out said so. No reason for him to take the kinda heat he did. Steve has been saying all week that he was fired. If he asked for a release then why would they try to trade him? The article just doesn't match up with what was going on.

Actually, he may have been trying to do right by Smitty by taking the heat.

What?!?  If a player ask for his release. The team will try to get something out of him first. See T.O with the eagles.

It's water under an old bridge..I don't think I believe it, but this doesn't change the result either way. Gone is gone.

Gettlemen is tweaking everyone's deal and 89's would have had to be tweaked. That seems extremely believable based on what 89 did.

Also seems extremely believable 89 would say no and trade him if they think otherwise
