All of a sudden, 89 getting all the love....

Recommended Posts

Boy! What hypocrisy and revisionist history!

Flipping the script, and then supporting it by some nebulous weak ass opinions that you try and pass off as fact because you want to frame the conversation to support your tired story line. Sure, 89 lost a step, but you intimate that 89's tank is fully depleted. You say we shouldn't have paid the man, not realizing that we are mostly paying him anyway.  You suggest that 89 wasn't giving a 100 percent, apparently not being able to distinguish between not giving a 100 percent because of injury, but giving a 100 percent of what you got.  You were mostly silent throughout his career here, turning your head or hypocritically putting up with his antics with a smile, but now that he was unceremoniously dumped you feel compelled to open your pie hole and add to the growing pile of feces about how horrible the guy is who admittedly was never perfect or an angel.  You say he wasn't worth the money, obviously not realizing that he gets most of his money anyway.  And then you cry about him not being a mentor, which isn't even in his job description. And after all that bashing you have the audacity to say that you will cheer him on the day that he retires a Panther.

This is a weak and immature fan base that can't distinguish between life and football, or football and business, and contains assholes probably bigger than Smitty was ever purported to be. You defame the play of the best two players in franchise history (two probable HOFERS) and expect the football community to think that you're more knowledgeable, credible, and reasonable and rational than most other fan bases.

You expect Smitty...Smitty....to not respond to being cut after giving his heart and soul to the franchise for more than a decade?  If you think that, you're crazier than you say that he is.

Shut your damn pie hole like it was shut before, or give the man his credit and hope that he doesn't get the revenge that we all know that he desperately wants on Sunday.

Finally someone level-headed. Too bad this will be brushed aside and same hater comments will be thrown out again without ever acknowledging your post.

Shula, why quote me and start name calling? I can see how he wanted to finish his career here, but he was an asshole and didn't deserve to...how does that make me a dipshit?? You're rude. Why don't YOU explain "team player", since it's obvious it means something completely different to you than, as you said, "every fugign user in this thread"...every user explaining that is asking a lot, please give us your deluded insight. please, tell us more about how awful the panthers are and how much grief smitty went through being apart of the lowly panthers. Woe is poor old innocent team player smitty O:)

When you so eloquently and tactfully said this, "Being a dick has dick to do with being a team player"...can't help but feel like you come across as a total dick, and I can't stand you as a panther fanmate...would be pure agony being stuck on ANY team with you. Lucky for me I don't play the "swing from smittys nuts" game, so we won't ever be teamed up.

Shula, don't quote me anymore...I don't know you, and I want to make it clear I have no interest reading anything you post. I only care what PANTHER fans have to say.

Keep pounding huddle!!

I'm not going to read your trash troll-baiting posts anymore, and it's obvious you're just someone's ALT without balls enough to post on their real account.

Having said that when you start a post with "blah, blah you can blow it out your ass" you can expect to be insulted in return.

If we would have resigned Smitty, we would have had to pay him close to 25mil for the next 3 years. He may be having a good year so far. But who is going to expect that to continue for 2 more years. We paid him to leave, because he was to expensive to keep.

I loved him as a Panther. But we needed to move on.

What is ridiculous? Calling other Huddlerz names because they don't fall in line with your way of thinking. If the interwebz weren't so important, I would vote to disband it just to not have to read some of these posts.

We?

That's the problem "we" aren't paying Smitty jack! JR is paying that money. We should have kept Smitty and still drafted Benjamin. We are trying to win now and Smitty would have gave us a better chance of winning especially with KB on the opposite side.

We always wanted Smitty to have a legit #2 but when we finally draft one he gets cut.SMH

See, that is the problem. Fans see what they want to see. Smitty, this year, seems to warrant the money he would get. I concede that. It is the next 2 years, at almost 17mil, that would be a killer.

If we signed Smitty this year, it brings in a 2 year option with it. If we could have signed him to a 1 year deal, he may still be here. But we couldn't. It was 3 years or nothing. We chose nothing.

There is no way you take the chance that Smitty would earn what he was going to make. It may not have been the popular decision, but it was the right one.

Some folks are damm mad we Tagged Hardy at 13mil. But others are fine with us paying Smitty almost 25mil for the next 3 years. Just shows to go ya, you can't make everyone happy.

Oh, OK. Sure it's JR's money. But "WE" as fans feel invested. Sorry if that didn't sit well with you. I ain't gonna stop using "WE" when speaking of the Panthers. We are all in the same family. We all love this team. Well...most of us. We are going to say we when we talk about the team we all follow.

See, that is the problem. Fans wanna talk about the future and not the present. Who's to say Smitty was gonna play all 3 years? What if he stayed and we won the Superbowl he probably would have retired after this year. Yeah you right he probably wasn't worth 3 years 25mil but he isn't the only old WR being overpaid right now. Look at Andre Johnson he is on the decline as well but he is still a Houston Texan. We took the cheap way out and chose saving money over winning right now.

I don't have a huge problem with Smitty leaving, I just wanted us to keep him and still draft Benjamin. It would have gave Cam a ton of weapons with Smitty/Olsen/Benjamin.

It's all good though because drafting Benjamin was the best thing DG could have done to replace Smitty.

No one is saying we wouldn't be better with Smitty this year. But picking up his option negated that. It was 3 years or nothing.

I know a lot of folks think Smitty still has it. The problem is, no on was sold on that when the decision had to be made.

Blame that stupid 2 year option. Without that. We may still have him. Or if the option wasn't for almost 17mil. It was that contract that forced him out.
