All of a sudden, 89 getting all the love....

Let me get this straight--anyone who does not see Smith from your perspective is blind?

He was kicked out because it would have cost the team a boat load of money.  Even your description of what Smitty could have done was about Smitty--he wanted to keep his family in Charlotte.  That is not a team decision.  The epitome of a team player?  Ask Bright and Lucas about that.  Ask Clausen when Smitty bashed him in the press.

You obviously do not know what  "team player" means.  You describe a good player, but not once did you describe a TEAM player.

Have you ever met Smitty?  He is an ASS.  Have you ever watched a practice when he was out there?  I watched about 3, and the only teammate who talked to Smitty was Kasay.  They others pretty much avoided him.  Team player?  Not close.

Anyone that doesn't recognize his contributions to the Panther's organization.

He wasn't going to cost the team a "boat load of money". Add Smith's dead money, and then add Cothery's contract. Now find the difference... oh not really a boat load huh? You know what did cost us a lot of money, tagging Greg Hardy, tendering Bryon Bell, signing old WR's, giving our kicker a big contract, signing over the hill secondary players to multi-year deals.

How about you define what a team player is buddy, because you don't know, and that's the problem. You're arguing non-sense to cover up your poo talking that wasn't even close to factual.

I have met Smith, and he treated me and my family very well. Yeah Smith is such a jerk.

He is a future Hall of Famer. Never been a doubt that the guy was/is special. He just did things he was never supposed to be able to do. Dude was bananas, and anybody here claiming they were here and saw it and weren't impressed are liars or worse. He is bar-none the best WR I've ever had the pleasure of both seeing in person and pulling for at the same time. He was my superstar on a team that never had any. Now we have 2, arguably more than that depending on current trends, but I digress. Smitty should be respected and spoken of with high reverence to the lore of Panthers past. He is the GOAT Panther.

But on Sunday, fug him.

When a player leaves Carolina and plays well or even better, someone just can't get it over. When he's here, he's great, but when he's not a Panther, someone questions everything of him, his effort, his this his that...

I'm sick about some huddlers' reactions...

You're misconstruing what I said. You don't have to poo talk him, just respect him. The people in this thread, including you, are fuging blind if you can't see what Smith gave to this franchise. He didn't want money, that's why he stayed in Carolina, it's why he wanted to retire a Panther.

I respect him....I love him....I have his jersey....I wish him the best......except when he plays us. He can suck a fat goose egg this week and light it up the rest of the year. This week I love him as usual but he's the enemy and I hope he sucks. Then in a couple of years and he will retire a Panther and I'll love him again but until then.....he's NOT a Panther.

I judge a player by his performance on the field, so...

I also heard that Michael Jordan was not a popular guy among his teammates but he won championships. I don't mind his a "team player" or not.

Well obviously you don't respect Smith or what he's done for the Panthers, and that's the fuging problem. The amount of Smith poo talk from every poster here is essentially trolling.

You obviously don't have to support him or Baltimore, but it's a God damn shame to see this fan base poo talk arguably it's best offensive player.

Dude are you dense? I respect Smith, I LOVE Smith but he's no longer a Panther.....I don't live in the past.....Unlike you, I prefer the team I have on the field today. If Smitty was a Panther.....I'd support him but he isn't a Panther.....he's a Raven and since I normally don't normally give two deuces about the Ravens, I don't give two deuces about Smith and hope we shut him down like I hope we shut down Colsten, Jones, White, and Jackson every year. When you put on an opponents helmet.....you no longer deserve or have Panther loyalty.

How and the fug can you be this blind to what Smith gave this organization. He could have signed elsewhere for more money with a high powered offense that would have gave him a huge statistic boost and probably even a chance at a ring, but instead he stayed with the Panther's through many QB and coach changes. He wanted to be a Panther for life, but was kicked out. He was the epitome of a team player. Without Smith we wouldn't have played in the Superbowl, and wouldn't have even sniffed the NFC championship games.

It's fuging ridiculous how everyone seems to forget before game our offense was largely on Smith's back.

Anyone who says 89 was the epitome of a team player...

Pretty much can't be taken that seriously.

-89 assaulted 3 teammates.

-89 per his own words, said teammates told him they felt like they had to walk on egg shells around him bc he was such a jerk so often (paraphrasing)

-any beat writer that has followed the team will report he is an attention guy and consistantly rubbed people the wrong way with his attitude

- there are also countless example of him being a punk to his own teammates later in his career

- had no interest in aiding his young positional teammates

Was a badass when it came to playing WR? Yes.

Epitome of a team of a team player? LMFAO

Same fans will hate Cam if he isn't re-signed.

No one hates 89. Calling him a jerk is just pointing out his personality.

And if Cam doesn't sign it would suck. End of tbe day it would be Carolina's own fault. They already decided to live dangerously by not extending him already....and his supporting cast gets weaker each season. May not like it but most would at least be able to understand it

Jordan wouldn't have the same legacy if he played today. Still would have been a badass....but he wouldn't of been the icon he became
