Why Can't Brandon Williams be our Larry Donnell?

Because Shula can only use one catching TE at a play. I kinda got a little spoiled by Shockey and Olsen and now we have Olsen, Dickerson and Williams and we can't use them effectively...

It's not really a choice for Shula; the line is in such bad shape that he has to give them some extra blocking help with backs and TEs.

He would be most likely taking Brockels active spot in the FB/TE role.

If Tolbert is out, there's a clear shot for Brandon because we wouldn't need a secondary lead blocker.  Plus I think Brockel just flat out sucks sometimes on ST so it wouldn't be a downgrade.  Williams looked good with the unit in preseason.

I'd put him in over Brockel at our TE3/ST.

Never call a Dickson Dickerson.

Donnell is not Brandon Williams. They are two different types of athletes. i think Donnell brings more to the table in terms of pure athleticism.

HOWEVER, Brandon Williams is an intimidating figure and he plays like it. He plays like he's the biggest, baddest cat on the field and he knows it. And I think he's a really good blocker from the TE position. He just needs game reps to develop. Granted he may make a mistake or two, he may miss a blocking assignment or not run a route the way Cam wants. But he'll also make a catch in the crowd and run over a few LBs. He'll also catch a few LBs on their heels and put them on the ground. Every player on this offense makes mental mistakes, and so would Brandon Williams. However, I don't think he'd lose the physical battles this team so often loses as blockers (Olsen, Dickson, Brockel).

Kinda funny. We are ok with moving a defensive guy to, you know a RT position but this person who has been on the roster for 3 years that people rave about never sees the field or so little it's insignificant.

Who knows...maybe he too can be converted to be an OLine and the answe is on the roster.

Stranger things have happened, right.
