Jeff Taylor Arrested on Domestic Assault

I'll be shocked if he isn't released quickly. All teams are businesses and their goal is to promote their brand. If something is hurting the brand or negatively impacting it, it's often let go of more often than not.

Just think of any business. You could own a store and your best sales person gets in trouble for whatever reason but for the argument, that's agree it's something pretty legit. You might say, "well, that's a personal problem and I should let it play out in court" but if the media starts to get involved and it's getting in the way of production and stopping your company from doing it's job, then all of a sudden that person is a problem more than an asset. Most states are "right to work" states which means anybody can be fired for any reason (minus like race, age, etc) and businesses/corporations use this to their advantage. If they have reason, well almost any reason, they can wash their hands free of the problem.

BUT let's say the employee is a salesman and your best salesman who is making you and the company a lot of money? Maybe you think twice about it because the decision could impact the entire company financially. Maybe you still do it to protect your company's image but it wasn't an easy decision. When the employee is less needed like the lady who comes in to the vacuum the floors every Tuesday, it's a much easier decision.

This is why we hear all of the news later about Peterson, Hardy, Rice, and big time players. It's because it's a tough decision for any business to make, when the person has impacted the success of a business. If we're talking about some backup punter accused of spousal abuse, let's see how long he stays on any roster. lol

The fact is, Jordan is finally sitting on a gold mine now with the Charlotte Hornets brand. He finally has something he can sell to the city, a brand that is a billion times more valuable that the Bobcats. Why would he ruin that or even risk it? Especially for a player that is nothing more than a good back-up. He will not tolerate it. Even if he is innocent, he won't even want to deal with the crap from the media.

Jeff will be gone, whether that is fair or not.

A lot of you guys saying we should cut him are the same guys saying Hardy should get his due process. Funny what being a star vs a role player does for fans' support.

I admit to being guilty of it. However, look at it this way

Hardy's skill set makes the wait worth all the stupid media coverage. While Taylor's does not. It's not fair, I know, but you what they say about life....

Some of you severely undervalue Jeff. If healthy he could be a HUGE part of our rotation. He's possibly Clifford's favorite guy on the roster.

I don't see us just dropping him now... i'm sure there is quite a heated debate among Clifford, MJ, Cho, Whitfield, etc., but I think ultimately we keep him, wait it out, hear what happened, and thrn likely suspend him if there is merit to it.

Regardless of the player/situation, I tend to lean towards the side of letting the justice system play out - especially in a he said/she said case. If there is some evidence that undoubtedly shows guilt (Rice video) then I think it's ok for a team to go ahead and act before a trial.

I haven't seen the details of the Taylor case yet, so I don't know where the info lies.

EAST LANSING – Charlotte Hornets player Jeff Taylor is accused of assaulting his girlfriend and a hotel employee in East Lansing and damaging hotel property, court records show.

Taylor, 25, was charged Thursday in 54B District Court with domestic violence, assault and battery, and malicious destruction of a building, all misdemeanors. He faces up to a year in jail.

The NBA player pleaded not guilty, records show.

Prosecutors allege in court documents the Charlotte, North Carolina resident assaulted his girlfriend and a hotel employee at the East Lansing Marriott at University Place at the corner of Albert Street and M.A.C. Avenue. Taylor also allegedly caused between $200 and $1,000 in damage to hotel property.

Police responded about 1 a.m. Thursday to a domestic violence call at the hotel. Taylor was arrested at the scene, police said.

Details of the incident were unclear from court documents. Records show Taylor had not hired an attorney by Thursday afternoon, and he could not be reached using a cell phone number listed in court records.

Bond was set at $5,000 because Taylor has "no ties to the area," according to court records. He was lodged at the Ingham County Jail around 7:30 p.m. Thursday but posted bond and was released by 8:42 p.m., jail records show.

He is expected to be in court Oct. 8 for a pretrial hearing.
