Haven't boxed myself into anything. 89 does 89.

Trying to pimp him as a mentor for KB simply doesn't have anything to back it

who said mentor? that is you. did I say mentor, did I say it at least one time . tell me you have a post with me saying mentor please. come on Alice in Chains don't be that man in the box.

Like it or not, it was never Smith's job to mentor younger receivers. That's not in the job description. Moreover, I think that it's naive to think that this offense wouldn't have benefited from having Steve Smith, run game or not. The run game is suffering because Cam apparently can't run due to injury. Having another legitimate breakaway target would relieve some pressure off of Cam and the run game.

All you guys seem to despise Smitty so much that you just can't stand to admit to yourself that he can still play at a high level. I don't give a damn if he isn't the same receiver back in 2005. Smitty still brings it, period.

You can disagree all you like about whether he should have been let go from an off-field business perspective. That's arguable. But don't tell me the man can't play, or wouldn't have helped us this year. It's bullshit. And you know it.

Not Thomas Davis' job to help Kuechly as a rookie....he did bc it is a team sport.

89 isn't a breakaway WR. A possession guy at this stage. He is a more physical Cotchery with a bad attitude, intensity, and style.

No one said that is why they failed or implied it.

Just pointing out there is nothing to support 89 would have mentored KB.....who represents everything 89 is bitter about

89 is bitter about being told that he can't get it done apparently, and not being allowed to play out his contract and retire as a career Panther.

Fabrications about KB representing all that 89 is bitter about is pure bullshit.

89 finds things to motivate himself. It does him best to put his mindset on that the Panthet just thought he couldn't play anymore....

And everyone knows that isn't why he isn't still here

Blah blah blah.   I am not going to get into an argument on semantics of what "breakaway" means because it's useless.  But compare Cotchery's production to Smith's production, as well as game tape, and there is a stark difference.  But that's really not the point, which is Smitty is still getting it done, however he is doing it.

You said...

" Would have benefitted KB immensely ? without a doubt."

The only logical assumption is you are implying 89 would have aided him...mentored.

I noted 89 was more physical...and had attitude and flare.

As far as production....go back and look at 2013 again

He isn't here because G-man didn't want him here. That's about the size of it.  Other GM's still saw worth in Smith's game, attitude, approach and all---whatever he had left.

agreed. It was not about the money , it was not about him "losing a step" , I understand what happened, I just happen to disagree with it.
