Per you he wasn't.

Per players, per 89 himself, per the reporters who have covered him for over a decade, per insiders.....he was a headache.

There is no new negative 89 spin. He was always a headache. He was our dude and fans didn't care bc he was awesome.

right but now you care now that he's gone again where were you guys at when he was on the team........not a peep but since he's not on the team you guys are coming out the woodwork

As far as gman he's done good so far but hitting on draft picks is way to early to tell it's only been 3 games there's still 14 weeks left

It's your opinion that he was a headache even though you named 4 cases in 13 years.....if that's your definition of an headache cool

distribution is distribution it doesn't matter if it is wr, rb, te. They have a balanced distribution record. just as we have a balanced distribution record. We have the same amount of receptions. the 49% just shows why they throw to TE and rb also. that is there game.

Wrong

If this was the case; they should have a higher percentage, as RB and TE passes usually have higher completion rates. Unless, Baltimore's receivers are that bad?

Sorry

cra has called smitty out numerous times while he was still on the team.

i remember stating that smitty should have kept his mouth shut in 2012.

most people here glossed over it but still acknowledged it because he was a panther. simply stating this is a big part of the reason he is not here is not hating on smitty. it's just common sense. we have superstars at other positions who aren't as confrontational a smitty. add the cap hit in and it's a no brainer why he is gone.

Wow, so you really have no clue how tight Julio Jones and Roddy White are, do you??

And I'm sure, if we looked into the other guys, we would see similar situations.

Helping and montoring players, goes on way more than you may think or realize, in professional sports.

It all depends on the individual player.

no it doesn't it's a overrated aspect when evaluating wrs.......you can mentor guys all day but when Sunday comes if they can't beat the guy in front of them it's useless. Julio and white can be buddies all day but in recent years it's showing that Julio is significantly out shinning his"mentor"........and again who's there mentoring guys like Calvin,Aj green, dez Bryant, josh Gordon, ect? It's only so far knowledge will take until athleticism has to take over.

cap hit is fine I agree it would have been a no brainer, 2012 he's stated about him supposedly running to the media. My point I'm tired of the same ole song and dance, player leaves the team then everyone not just cra in this case, comes out of the woodwork throwing poo against the wall......I've had enough so I'm calling people out,its cool to be a fan of the panthers but you don't have to bash guys who gave it there all when they were on the team and that goes farther then smith

Julio Jones HIMSELF has said that Roddy White help make/give him a smoother transition. The game is not always physical. There's a mental, learning, comfort ability with your teammates component as well.

More importantly: Steve Smith has none of those guys ability at present. He's not what he used to be. Therefore, him being a pain in the ass, now puts his job in Jeopardy with what Gettleman was trying to build for this team.

Steve Smith is just a pain in the ass, average to slightly above average receiver at this stage in his career (who would have had a double figure salary next year, and the year after, when he would have probably been average at best). If he was still the Steve Smith of 5 years ago; yes the Panthers would have probably kept him.

Imagine how many yards he would have if he wasnt dropping so many. NFL defense know what there doing, that is why they are funneling the ball the worst receiver on the team.

They barely defend Smith because they know he is just going to drop the ball half the time.

Get ready for Smith to being dropping a lot of balls tomorrow (if he evens catches much), as I have a feeling he'll be too hyped up to really do anything, especially if he gets off to a bad start early.

No, I don't care anymore now than I did then. Check my post history bc nothing I am saying now is new... talked about how unless he retired early he would have to find a new home once the headache/performance ratio didn't work

and there aren't just 4 examples of him being a pain nor is the opinion message board talk...

him being a pain in the ass is you opinion, as far as last year which is the only year that should matter seeing as it was g mans first year, I don't see the pain in the ass guy everyone was referring to. As far as cap reason I defiantly can get behind that with the right info.

Steve might can't do what Julio can but he is still a legitimate threat on the field and is the last guy you want to take lightly. He's clutch and has the veteran presence which I can say the same for Julio or white

I'll give you Julio but again those other receivers I've listed had no one on there team to mentor them and there among the top wr in the league

89 being a pain is no more an opinion than saying Thomas Davis a leader of this team. They are statements supported with overwhelming evidence and challenging the statements would be near lunacy

that is the definition of an opinion what you see as a headache isn't the case for everyone, again those incidents you claim over 13 years doesn't make a person a headache......have you even compared the good vs bad??? No you haven't for every one incident you name i can think of 5 or more positive situations

stating facts is not bashing.

this is kind of different than the usual "oh he sucked anyway" deal when players leave the team.

everyone here knows smitty is the greatest panther ever as of right now. when something like this happens, the magnitude of the player, people wanna know why. they look at facts. smitty is hard to get along with in the locker room. smitty has a large cap hit the next two years at age 36 and 37. we have young leaders that need to have free reign of this team.

it is a known fact cam and smitty did not get along. this isn't hating on smith, these are just facts. smitty is of the ocho/t.o/randy moss variety. he's the last of that group of wr who could ball and had big mouths. but smitty's production dipped, smitty was confrontational in the lockerroom, smitty's cap hit was sky high for his age/lack of production/focal point in the offense. was he worth it for the team anymore? management didn't think so.

dg could have done a much better job of the release. he's a yank, most yanks are abrasive. and honestly his release was kind of symbolic of the way smitty handled business. but instead of a mature adult at age 35 and letting it go, we have smitty on the sidelines calling DG a motherfuger and a fat piece of poo.

lol what overwhelming evidence more opinions.....that's not evidence, the truth is both our arguments are opinions, both of us have articles, interviews, and ect proving each other's point but neither have game breaking info proving the other wrong.
