Sitting someone for health reasons isn't benching.  Though, that's exactly how the media would portray it.

This year will be a pivotal period in Cams development as a qb. He obviously has the some of the greatest physical tools of any qb in the league and when he runs it's WOW! That being said, he is going to learn to trust his arm more than ever and his pocket presence is also turning into a WOW. I believe next year when he's finally 100%, he will be absolutely amazing as he pairs his natural physical tools (running game) with his newly learned knowledge and tremendously increased pocket presence as a qb. He will be able to be the old Cam or vintage Tom Brady on any given play.

What seem to be going over so many heads is the fact that Cam is not only showing that he can sit in the pocket, but at 80% he's still quite dangerous player on this team to other teams. Why does such obvious things go right over some Panther's fans heads?

the kid played great on Sunday. And had he been afforded a consistent RB where he didn't always have to throw the ball, the outcome could have been different, minus the miscue by the Special team and the fumble that shouldn't have happened.

It was sad watching Cam work so hard, only to always be criticized by fans who seem so ungrateful. The most precious commodity on a team should be the QB. I guess not with some Panther's fans.

The QB position is the only offensive position with no question marks involved( When Cam's healthy ). Olsen's a beast, but will Dickson or BWill contribute to give defenses more hell? KB13 is a Optimus Predator or whatever you want call him( Dudes the real deal ), but will our WR's be able to overcome if one goes down? Didn't look too good Sunday. If you want, you can definitely blame the O-line which is the biggest concern in my opinion, but I won't turn this into a Bell bashing thread. RB? They're all broken. The brokest rich mofos I know. But Cam? No questions in my mind unless its injury related. I guess other fans have their reasons. I don't see it.

maybe it's just me, but when someone says "bench" somebody, it is usually related to poor play.  Sitting out a player has nothing to do with how they are playing, but giving them time to recover from an injury or prevent further injury.  I dont think anyone is suggesting benching Cam, if he was fully healthy, this would not even be a discussion.

ok let me rephrase that IT DOESNT MATTER IF HES NOT FULLY HEALTHYYYYY we shouldnt SIT cam...cam is a football player hes been playing his whole life week 1 was the 1st time hes ever SAT out...now was it the 1st time hes ever been unhealthy? i highly doubt it...

The only reason we would sit Cam is because he is banged up.  Not because DA is "better".  DA is not a better QB than Cam.  It is plain and simple.  I find it hilarious people are calling for Cams head and clamoring DA will be the chosen one.  Do people not realize his time in ARI was a pile of poopy.  He even had Fitz and Boldin.  His time in CLE after '07 was not very good either.  I am not saying DA sucks he is a great backup and looks polished when he plays, but he should only start if the staff feels Cam can not play. 

 

Cams numbers have been solid, barring a few mental mistakes Sunday night, the game would have been closer and the Panthers may have had a chance to win.  The people calling for Cam to be benched because they think he sucks are the same people who would have wiped his ass after his rookie season and after last year going 12-4.  There is no way DA could have taken this team to a 12-4 record.  Yes, there were a couple times Cam hung onto the ball too long Sunday night, but there were more times when he had 1 second tops to throw it.  I am not a Cam apologist, I am a Panther apologist and I want the Panthers to play the best QB and that is Cam.
