The early stats for the NFCS's Rookie WR's... What does it mean?

It's too early to try to compare these stats.. Panthers feed KB the ball and has more catches over 20+ yards than the others. It's just a product of not having anyone else to throw the ball to.

I mean Philly Brown ranks 10th on that list in receptions. Doesn't mean we are screaming he is better than others.

You may not be.....

I think it shows that we got the real deal with KB.

Hurns numbers may be skewed some since the Jags really don't have a lot of talent at WR.

Cooks, Evans and Watkins are excellent players too.

I get giddy like a school girl when I think of what the future can hold with KB tho...  he has the potential to be a real superstar imo.

When he has two or three years of experience man, he can be a real beast.

Hurns' stats are vastly skewed by his three long TD catches; he's the third best rookie WR on his own team. Also, it's only been 3 games, so these numbers don't really say anything. I expect Cooks to easily top the rookie receptions list at year's end. Bucs are gonna be behind a lot this year and constantly throwing, so Evans' counting stats will be there at the end of the year. Watkins and KB will put up nice numbers too, for rookies. This is a strong class, for sure.

I'm very happy to have KB. His physicality and athleticism fit on this team. Cooks is a unique and versatile talent who most likely would not be used to his full potential in Carolina's offense. I was pleasantly surprised by Philly Brown on Sunday night. He looked like a potential 3rd/4th WR; got open for Cam and made catches. Not every player can be a stud. You need to have guys like Philly as well, and it will only benefit him to learn from guys like Cotchery and Avant who have made nice careers as third receivers.

Those three drops came against the lions. Perhaps hes a little bit inconsistent or streaky at this point, but he has hands. He could go 100 targets without a drop and it wouldnt suprise. He also will be in the top ten plays every week.

every week

Only 2 drops counted against the lions kb had 1 against the steelers

A bit premature for anointing KB the best just yet.

Not when your user name is Cam2Benji

All I know is that this was supposed to be a deep class of WRs and although early, it seems to be living up to that and it's great to see.

Watkins, Benjamin, Cooks, Evans, Matthews, etc. are all matching or exceeding expectations with some of the usual growing pains. Not sure what the deal is with Latimer not seeing action out in Denver but he is behind a bunch of talent on that depth chart.

KB's way better the reason Cooks has more receptions is because Brees and the Aints throw the ball so much more than we do.

NO has eight more passing attempts and eight more completions than the Panthers through three games. Not enough to make a difference. Cooks and Benjamin are used so differently, it's tough to compare them. Cooks so far has mostly been used in the Darren Sproles role, lining up all over the field and catching short passes in space. Benjamin has been a monster on downfield plays and has way more yards than Cooks through three games. I would like to see Shula draw up some more bubble screens for KB, Demaryius Thomas-style. He's big enough and fast enough to maximize YAC opportunities, plus it gets the ball out fast and takes pressure off the line.

I'm not sure if the bubble screen is the way to go with KB, Thomas is faster (4.38) and a little smaller, 6"3' and 230 lbs.  KB isn't going to be a huge YAC guy unless it's something downfield and in stride IMO.

He would've had that one TD from Cam earlier in the game but he simply mistimed his jump, he's going to be awesome in the redzone and has already shown he can box out and go up and get it.

KB is pretty strong I can see him being a Brandon Marshall and be able to break a couple tackles after the catch.

I was just about to cite Marshall as another example, haha. Demaryius is a freak, but what KB gives up to him in speed and acceleration can be made up for in size, strength, and nastiness. Whether he's tackling a 6'3 230lb guy or a 6'5 245lb guy, most corners in the league don't want much of that action. The Panthers offense desperately needs more quick hitting passes to protect its QB, plus if DBs start creeping up to take away screen plays, it can open up a little pump and go action, or a fake screen to one of a bunched group of receivers followed by a throw back to a TE or RB on the other side of the formation. There's a lot that can be done there.

Please no more screens to the tight end.  I think we've gotten maybe 1 yard out of it in the last 2 years Shula has called it.
