Manziel went in at QB, then came over to the sideline to get chewed out by his coaches but it was a trick play using Manziel as a WR. Nobody in the stadium realized the play was illegal....it has been illegal ever since the LA Rams did a similar play to the Colts 60 years ago in 1954 (Rams RB lingered in play near sideline unnoticed which got him open for an 80 yd TD reception)

However, Manziel's 39-yard completion was called back on another penalty: illegal procedure on rookie running back Terrance West for not getting set in the backfield.
