Cam Tonight

Honestly, I thought he played really well. Considering our best OLineman crapped the bed tonight along with everyone else, Cam did about as well as you could ask for. A couple of overthrows can likely be attributed to the ankle, but 24/35 250 yds 1 TD 0 INT aint bad

U sir are a smart man...but Most Importantly have common Sense

I could see that, but for how many games?

That's not such an easy question to answer.

Cam is never going to be completely healthy this season. Even Rivera said he won't likely heal until February. If Cam can throw the ball then he can play. The o-line just needs to do it's job better.

I know. I'm pissed our FO thought it was cool to not develop any tackle depth over the years. Even with Gross we were still just throwing bodies at the RT position, and had terrible depth. It's now hitting a critical point.

You know why Byron Bell and Nate Chandler are our starting tackles?

Y'all must have forgotten Anderson's first 8 years of the NFL. He'll trick you for a stretch, like he did in Cleveland, (which is what makes him a good back-up) then fall back down to Earth and poo the bed major. I want Cam healthy, but I'm scared to have Derek playing when that pops out (remember the preseason last year? That's an example of bad Derek), and I it will if he's on the field long enough.

I recognize Cam is hurt, but this is the NFL, and unlike the NBA, these guys can't just sit a couple of games to rest, especially not the QB.

At this point, especially with a contract extension looming, I would rather make sure Cam is absolutely, positively one hundred percent than send him out there hurt and at risk for even greater injury (especially with this offensive line.) It's for that reason (along with a multitude of others) that RG3 went from Washington football savior to so banged up he might not play in a Redskins uniform again in not even 3 seasons.

I realize this is an overreaction to a team performance that didn't reflect nearly what this team is capable of, but the fact that Cam has not looked 100% in quite some time is truly a cause for concern, big picture.

I'm not so sure.

What you saw demonstrated tonight was just how important Cam Newton's mobility really is to his performance.

Healthy, he can move around to extend plays and even threaten defenses as a rusher.

Take those things away and you force him to play a game that, even if it were his style, would be impossible behind this offensive line.

If all it takes is for Derek Andersen to beat the Bucs to convince you he is a better option then you are truly lost as a fan

Lets say Cam comes back late in the season and is rusty from not playing and it ultimately sets us back, now all your eggs are in Derek Andersons basket and Cam is an even bigger scapegoat then he already is for no reason. Prime example why fans are fans and Cam critics get easily exposed.

All comes down to 2 things. Oh and the OL played better last week with Cam there. They called more quick hits with DA. Our OL is not even a top-three OL in the SEC, let alone the NFL. Can't win games or keep anyone healthy by running it or slow-developing pass plays.

Pre-snap energy means approximately 0.00000000000001%. Lack of talent on the OL and playcalling that doesn't fit our few strengths on offense account for the rest.

Anderson audibled a lot because he was in control. His energy level told his teammates that he was and it inspired them. He instilled confidence in them. The same "I wonder what's going to happen" that you all feel when watching the Panthers offense is the same uncertainty that the players out there feel because that's the pre-snap energy that Cam emits. Everything is reactionary, let's see if this is going to work. Again, most of you can fight it, but it'll still be so even if you don't get it. Cam is still not in control of this offense yet, and it shows in his pre-snap body language. He will make plays here and there, but he still doesn't own it. The offense has to work for him. He doesn't control it. Pre-snap energy, not experience, is the main reason.

I agree. It seems like this season is going to be a learning experience for him with his limited mobility. Cam is not going to not play himself even though I would like to rest him a few games and then Anderson can show while he is good he is being overrated by this fanbase a bit.

Lol that sounds like a lot of bullshit. You are basing it off Anderson in the 4th quarter facing who knows what kind of back ups. Pls with your Psychomumbojumbo. And fyi one guys opinion on qb energy or whatever you are talking about does not mean anything.

I'm basing it off of seeing every snap Cam has taken in the NFL and saying it the whole time.

I'm a big fan of Derek Anderson, the backup quarterback, and even occasional starter.

Derek Anderson the regular starting quarterback makes me nervous.

Bruh Anderson was in for one series at the end of the game. Calm down with this energy crap. You are working from a small ass sample size to be talking this mess.
