Cam Tonight

Show me where I complained Cam never stayed in the pocket. Pressure was not coming from every angle on every sack. I never said Peyton would do anything better in that game and I don't think he would've. I'm saying a 100% Cam (both physically and mentally) would've done MUCH better in that game. The injuries are affecting him way more than people think.

You're not seeing the bigger picture

There were A LOT of plays where last year he would've gotten away from the sack and got a completion or scrambled for yardage, instead tonight he was very hesitant, didn't recognize a sack coming and didn't move well, taking really bad sacks. The line sucked but it was manageable and if he were 100% physically and mentally our offense wouldn't have been nearly that bad.

I think Cam is there Mentally but his body just is not well enough for him to take over games. He needs to manage games and Shula really does not help him in that aspect.

Cam is doing all he can, he's just not Superman this season. This is what it looks like when you put it all on one mans shoulders and he can't carry it.

His completion percentage was 68% with a few receiver drops. He tried scrambling, and tried standing tall with players running into him.

the *national media* was going off on twitter about how badly the offensive line was getting beaten by *3 pass rushers*

not people on this board. not bill voth. casual observers with, supposedly, no biases. it was that evident

somebody, somewhere in that FO has to hold somebody accountable for the state of our OL. if you would have told me last year that we would go all in on byron bell as our LT, it would have seemed like some kind of bizarro world parallel dimension.

but by all means cam threw that ball too high durrr

There were a couple of times Cam holded the ball too long but the way you are describing it is like Cam holding the ball so long is the reason for most of the sacks when it was not. Literally I could probably count 3-5 times where Cam was looking to throw the ball within three seconds but the o-line was already giving up the pressure. It was ridiculous. Cam had his troubles tonight but he wasn't the main problem.

It's not the reason for most of the sacks.  The offensive line is the reason for most of the sacks.

But he still didn't make decisions as quickly as he needed to tonight.

I think he was hurt badly enough that he probably should have sat down, but he's too much of a competitor to do that.

Our OL continues to fail Cam on a consistent basis. We have absolutely no semblance of a running game. Our offense is Cam, Olsen and KB. Cam had more tools and better protection as a rookie than he does now. And yet people place more blame on him. Blame Gettleman for not getting some other OL, blame Shula, but I don't see a point to blame Cam at all.

Sorry but no, he didn't.

Cam was holding the ball too long and was off target on more than his usual share of throws.

Worst of all, he got knocked around way too much, primarily because our tackles look awful. If he were healthy, he might have been able to run his way out of some of those spots. He clearly isn't healthy.

And while we probably already knew he wasn't completely healthy. Playing in this game might have made that a whole lot worse.

I'm really starting to worry about all the hits he's taken.

I can't believe it always turns into a frenzy of homers when someone talks about sitting cam. It is one thing to say it after he has a bad game, but after a bad game when he CLEARLY is nowhere near 100%, anyone who says cam needs more time before getting back under center is completely warranted.

Let DA do what he is meant to do and give Cam time to get healthy. There is NO QBR CONTROVERSY. Just a hurt starting QB.

He's beaten up.

Cam has taken more hits than anyone in his time, and as much as people want to believe he's Superman, that adds up.  It takes both a physical and a mental toll.

Cam's effectiveness as a QB comes from his ability to keep the defense off balance by running. It also helps when the protection breaks down (which is like every pass play). He's not Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. If he's hurt and can't run we are probably better off with Anderson at qb as he is a better pocket passer and makes quicker decisions to get rid of the ball instead of taking a huge hit.
