Week 3 Gameday Thread

Cutting Steve Smith was a huge mistake.

No it wasn't. It was a calculated decision and in his place they've got a future all pro who's a much bigger target and has a long career ahead of him.

Oakland had a chance to put NE at 1-2 except for a stupid holding call that negated a TD.

Yeah let's look at the numbers. He had almost 800 yards while missing two game (it looks like our old "vets" will be missing some games this year so there goes the Smith is a liability we need game day players). He also put up those numbers in an ultra conservative system that managed to place in the worst offenses by yards and explosive plays. Now let's go to our offensive philosophy which everyone apparently loves on this forum. Smith excelled in it making huge plays on 3rd and 4th down keeping us in the game. The "drops" everyone mentions were NORMAL for Smith and were NORMAL compared to other WR's in the league.

Narrative, stick with it.

He had 745 yards. Far from 800. He never had higher than 69 yards in a game. He had key drops that were not normal for Smith if you been watching the games over the years.

Nice exaggerations.

You stick with your narrative, I'll stick with common sense.

That argument is complete bull and you know it. Smith has never taken a play or game off. He's always played every game with nothing about effort and heart. He's easily the most competitive player I've ever watched play the game. This is a complete nonsense argument that's being grasped on now that numbers are proving those who said Smith was done wrong. Smith has made comments after the season about wanting to retire, such as after the 2010 season, but he always came back and played with heart.

Keep clinging to narratives, because the numbers don't lie. Cutting Steve Smith was a huge mistake.

What makes you say that Smith wouldnt have continued to regress? He had 1200 yards in 2012 and only 750 last year. And i can think of several occasions where smith blew a game for us last year with huge drops. Arizona for instance, where Cam was tearing tham up until smith had consecutive drops (one of them in the endzone).

Saying that the 'numbers dont lie' is a complete bull argument..

Man, on one of my other fantasy squads I sat Desean Jackson like an idiot. It came back to bite me, as the guy I sat him for did squat.

I sat him for percy harvin....it will not matter because my team sucks. I was late to the draft and I ended up with 1 good rb (Jamal charles) and he is hurt
