Vick is an Eagle

I honestly believe if Couch had gone to Philly and McNabb had gone to Cleveland, Couch would have won a Super Bowl by now. Call me crazy (and a Kentucky homer) but that's what I think.

Whoa!! I hope you are just saying that to get under his skin. Couch was one of the biggest let downs of all time. McNabb has done so much with lack of talented wr's, lack of a consistent run game, and with a good defense.

I am either gonna say you're not funny trying to get under his skin, crazy is not even the word to say if you really believe that. A FCKN IDIOT is more like it. Sorry, but that's what I think.

If you can't appreciate McNabb, then I'm not sure if football is your sport. He is easily a top 5 QB of this decade. We would be a true contender year in and year out if McNabb were our QB.

Back on the subject of Vick, I dont think it's any surprise he's back in the league. Roger Goodell knows that the number of jerseys he sells and attention the National Football League garners because of this reinstatement will far outnumber the protesters holding up signs outside of Eagles' practice. If Goodell didnt think letting Vick play would benefit the league's bottom line, he wouldn't have made this move.

As for Vick himself, I actually believe him when he says he's trying to do the right thing. He sure is saying all the right things. I've always believed the best way to punish naughty rich people is to take all their money away. That will have a much greater affect on him than jailtime alone. Obviously time will tell what happens in this whole deal, but Vick knows that this is his last chance. And he has Tony Dungy to lean on now.

I'm also not surprised Andy Reid has taken a chance on no. 7. Andy Reid has an ego, just like every other talent evaluator in the league--if Vick hasn't played up to his ability in Atlanta, Reid think's he'll be the guy who coaches him up and actually does get the best out of him in Philadelphia. This is the same guy that thought he could make Freddie Mitchell a no.1 wideout. He also thought he could make Matt McCoy a starting linebacker in the NFL even though everyone knew Kirk Morrison was San Diego State's best player. He's no stranger to taking chances.

Maybe now, hell actually surround himself with good people, which he's done, and maybe he'll even work hard at being a quarterback--something he definitely didnt do in Atlanta. He might actually be able to capitalize on all that potential which has always had talent evaluators :drool5:.

Feeling's mutual.

Late in the Super Bowl with the 49ers trailing the Bengals, Joe Montana got to the huddle and said to his teammates "Hey isn't that John Candy over there?" Result: He easily marched his team down the field for the game winning score.

Late in the Super Bowl with the Eagles trailing the Patriots by 10 points, Donovan McNabb yakked all over the field, then took his good old time marching his Eagles downfield against a soft Patriots defense that was all too happy to let him use up the clock.

Top five QBs of this decade...

Tom Brady

Peyton Manning

Ben Roethlisberger

Kurt Warner

Steve McNair

All five of those guys did what elite quarterbacks do...they came through when it counted most. McNair almost beat the Rams by himself. Then he went to another couple of championship games against superior competition to what McNabb faced.

Meat I can't agree that there have been five QBs since 2000 who have been consistently great/elite. I think the list is Brady & if you are so inclined Manning (who doesn't fit your qualification of coming through when the team needs him the most in the playoffs).

I would probably take Rivers, Trent Green and Brees over anyone on the rest of your list. I do think Warner is very good, but again, consistently great since 2000? No.

The main reason the Eagles have been consistently competitive is their defense.

Eagles are 4th in the entire NFL in PA since 2000 IIRC.

This is the same point I made earlier. If you look at his history Peyton is more likely to choke for you in the playoffs than take you all the way. The year he did win it, his defense stepped up HUGE for him in the playoffs and his Super Bowl win did not come on a heroic last minute drive. It came on a overall dominating team performance over a Rex Grossman led Chicago Bears team.

I think Brady and Roethlisberger are the elite level. Manning and perhaps Favre are the next level. Then you have Warner, McNair, McNabb and a couple of other guys who have been up and down all decade long. Is there a huge difference between Warner, McNair and McNabb? No. It's just a matter of preference. I prefer guys who don't puke on the field when I need them to win the game.

I don't disagree with any of this except I would add that he did play a very good half against the Pats in the AFCC which was probably his best performance against a fairly good defense in the playoffs in his whole career. His OL and run game and defense won them the SB. He made a few plays, but a lot of QBs are capable of that (which is part of why I think ELITE QB is an overrated component as far as winning SBs). I thought his being the MVP of that SB was a ridiculous sympathy vote.

I honestly believe that any AFC team would have won that SB.

Meat, you had said "of this decade" which I took as meaning consistent over time. Hence my responses. Also, you have a far higher opinion of BR than I do now or maybe ever will.

Favre's playoff performance for the most part since 2000 has been pretty awful. He's had a game of 6 INTs (2 or 3 of them were for TDs) and 4 INTs in the postseason.
