Vick is an Eagle

Well, like the whole annual Brett Favre saga, all that speculation on where Vick was going to end up was a complete waste of time.

Whatever, Eagles fans are a tough crowd and they'll quickly turn on him if he ever plays a down and doesn't perform at an acceptable level (which means repeating the best numbers he has put up in his career ain't going to cut it).

Scary thing is I can't believe Dungy was right when he said Vick would be signed before the end of the week.

There were some talking heads who said that might be wrong because teams would want to see his 60 min interview before they made a decision. Hmmm...that made zero sense to me. They would trust a very well scripted, edited and rehearsed type interview over a face to face with him and talking to people who knew him personally etc? Nahhh... a smart team wouldn't. I wonder how the Eagles snuck him in for a visit without anything leaking out. THAT is impressive.

I was kind of surprised it was the Eagles as well, especially because no one was talking about them being involved for him. But then again the current NFL media is incompetent.

I heard Mort say that Baltimore was also in the mix but Ozzie Newsome couldn't convince everyone to go for it. Would love to know who the other teams were but I am sure we never will.

On NFL network last night the teams that were in the mix were

Eagles

Steelers

Bills

Bengals

Panthers

It was also jamie dukes..... But the way he talked it sounded like these teams owners/choach were all on the same page and had contract offers ready. Take it as you wish

Jamie Dukes is an idiot and is seldom right. He was also the guy that said he would take Vick first to build a franchise right now. Guy is a Vick Nuthugging Fool.

Thats why I was sure to say that Jamie Dukes said it. I watch him when he said that Vick is the person he would take to build a franchise around........

We'd react negatively too. I know, "dogs aren't humans, let it go" - that's easier said than done, the vast majority of humans love dogs and will harbor that anger for a long, long time.

Plus the Eagles fans, say what you will, have a strong connection to the team. Remember when Vick blatantly disrespected the Falcons fans? The Eagles fans remember that. If he does that to them it could be ugly.

Sal Paolantonio on Mike & Mike is saying the reaction by Philly fans that he has heard is overwhelmingly negative which surprises me.

I just started listening to Philly sports radio....that doesn't surprise me too much. People's emotions are high right now. I for one go back and forth on this. I'll keep an open mind.

Just heard that the Eagles have in the past, cut 2 (lesser known) players that were charged with animal cruelty to their pets which I didn't know.

Mortenesen is saying that Goodell was heavily involved with trying to get Vick a new team (talking to the teams, etc) and that if he (Goodell) had a team and needed a QB he would have signed Vick. I don't recall his ever taking an active role in helping another player under suspension get a job.
