6 years, $150,250,000, $54,000,000 guaranteed, Projected contract for Cam

He won 3 national titles in 3 years with 3 different teams in college and took the worst team in the league to a first round bye in year 3. A good GM should pay based on expected production, not past results. I have zero doubt this deal will look like a steal in five years.

College and the NFL are different beasts. The Golden Calf of Bristol one of the greatest college players of all time is not even in the NFL anymore.

He took?

I think it is better to say the D took us to a first round bye.

You need to be a top 5-10 QB stats wise to claim they took us somewhere.

In this Shula offense Cam is mostly a game manager with a few great scrambling plays a game. (lean on the run game and D, dont make mistakes, burn clock, etc not go out there and amass 300+ yards passing and 50+ yards rushing)

Hopefully Cam makes it to the superbowl this year as well as cementing himself stats wise as a top 5-10 QB (qb rating, completion %, td:int ratio, etc) then I will feel much better about such an enormous contract.

Certainly, but as a 25 year old playing the toughest position in sports, Cam has perhaps the greatest total resume as a 25 year old athlete in the history of team sports. Never-mind his marketability, etc. An absolute no brainier IMO.

The only thing that really matters is the guaranteed amount. That isn't that much more than rookies were getting for being the number 1 pick I every year before Cam was drafted. We got the benefit of seeing how he turned out first and then got to decide what he is worth. He has shown that he is the real deal and deserves to get paid a ton. We can make enough unguaranteed and on the back end to protect us in the event he ends up like Jake with a career ending injury.

...280 yds, TD, 0 INT in his first game back from injury.

Been many a talented athlete that couldnt put things together and win when it matters. (playoffs/championship)

Cam is still young so that could change (i expect it to change this year tbt)

I just feel that kind of money is for proven playoff / championship winners who are also elite during the regular season.

i think that will be a valid point when QBs are the only one deciding who wins or loses playoffs/championships...which will likely never be the case since this is....well...a team sport.

Should the Bulls have paid MJ after 6 years and no title? Conversely, was MJ worth the same after title #6?

can you please stop this cam = mj poo? MJ is the most famous athlete ever. he was the sole reason for the NBAs popularity explosion overseas. nobody outside of the US knows who cam is, and they won't ever know. Football isn't basketball, a football player can't dominate like a basketball player can due to double the players in the field/court.

cam isn't even a top 5 qb and is borderline top 10 right now, much less even mj status.

If we can keep Cam at or below 20mil per year we'll be fortunate.

That would go a long way towards keeping the team competitive given cap limitations.

If not we'll pay whatever and suffer elsewhere.

QBs with Cam's ability don't come along often.

Consider being in a position another team just put themselves in.
