6 years, $150,250,000, $54,000,000 guaranteed, Projected contract for Cam

Here's some numbers before the cliff-jumping begins

$19 million=dead money we have on the books this year for players no longer on the team

$13 million=Hardy's contract, pretty sure he's not gonna be back next year

-$4 million we'll still be on the hook for Smitty's contract in 2015

so $28 million will be freed up next year

add that Cam's already scheduled to make $14 million in 2015, and you realize that Gettleman >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hurney

Edit: Other player's salaries will go up in 2015, so they will chew into that $28 million, too, so a couple more re-negotiations or cuts will prolly need to be made, but it's now realistic to see that we can keep both Cam and Luke without killing the salary cap and crippling the roster.

Using that logic, this contract is 40m more base, with the same guaranteed, as Aaron Rodgers.

Is Cam worth 40m more than Aaron Rodgers?

had Cam's contact been in 2013, no. But the salary cap and QB contacts have gone up. However, it worth nothing that Rodgers got his contact two months after Flacco got his, and Rodgers got a little less per year than Flacco... lol, Rodger's agent sucks

If it comes down to cash-strapping the team, is the context of this conversation, not people just telling Cam to leave.

Sounds to me like you're a Cam fan and not a Panthers fan.

I understand the concerns you have about a contract that big strapping the team's salary cap, but considering how productive he is and what a rare talent he plus the recent contracts of other QBs (Flaco, Kapernick, Dalton), I'm not surprised by this estimate.  I don't think he'll sign some thing this big, but its obvious that its gonna take something bigger than the other three QBs mentioned to sign him long term.
