6 years, $150,250,000, $54,000,000 guaranteed, Projected contract for Cam

Who is talking Cam getting the biggest QB contract here? My point was that Cam is going to get a good deal similar to guys like Dalton regardless of what he does in the postseason. My intention in my post was not to make Cam the highest paid QB even though he doesn't have the playoff success right now. I don't think Cam wants to be the highest paid QB either but some people in this thread are talking like Cam should be underpayed compared to other QB's with similar stats until he gets some playoff wins and that is just not how contracts are done for the QB position.

So, other teams over pay players and we should simply because they do?

Cam is gonna get paid a lot of money, regardless of the opinion of ppl on the huddle.

Just some of us are a bit gun shy and concerned about paying a poo ton of money for someone that has not been able (thus far) to put things together and will us to playoff victories.

Yes that is how the league is. Cam doesn't play both defense and offense. He is not in control if a player drops his pass into the opposing player for an int or if the run game doesn't want to work at all that day. That's why it's stupid to focus so much on playoff victories especially so early in his career as means to be so concerned about paying Cam. Cam is in his 4th year, guys like Peyton Manning didn't even win a game till their 6th year.  According to your logic the jury would have still been out on Peyton because of his lack of early playoff success and that's not counting his years of playoff failures.

I do not have game pass yet so I can not go back and watch every snap of our playoff loss to the niners.

If I were a betting man I would put my money on Cam missing reads, holding on to the ball too long, and making some poor passes.

You have to focus on playoffs to a certain degree because that is when the most pressure is on. Some QBs wilt under pressure and some rise to the occasion.

Yea, I wouldnt have wanted to give Manning a MASSIVE contract until he won a few playoffs games as well. That goes for any QB.

I want to see how they perform in the biggest stages at the highest level.

Not sure when and why the NFL got to paying ELITE money to non elite players.

Cam is on his way, def, but he aint there yet.

Cam will get paid what he is worth no more no less. You act like it's so easy to find franchise QB's in this league. It's not which is why QB contracts are so inflated.

I know QB's contracts are inflated.

Pay them what they are really worth based on stats and victories.

I assume teams got desperate and decided to start giving guys massive contracts, not knowing the big long term effect of doing such.

I for one am simply not excited about paying Cam the same amount of money as elite superbowl winning QBs.

But I will take overpaying him rather than letting him walk.

Tony Romo puts up nice stats. Ask the cowgirls how much they are excited about him.

At the end of the day it is about them W's and L's (and ultimately the postseason W's and L's)

again, you are under the false impression that it's the QB that is the only one on the field that effects wins and losses.

Yes W's and L's are not always on a single player.

HOWEVER,

A win and a loss CAN fall on a single player. For example, a QB imploding throwing multiple picks, overthrowing WRs, etc. etc.

QB's and players in general can wilt or excel under pressure.

so are you saying that cam is the reason we don't have more wins and didn't win in the playoffs last year?

No. I haven't broke down the game last year to make such a statement. When I purchase NFL game pass I will watch that game again with coaches tape and break it down for you (as to why we lost).

I am saying just what I have been saying.

People have a right to feel uneasy about giving massive money to QB's that have not shown what they are made of under pressure in the biggest games on the highest level.

In addition, I understand that teams have been overpaying unproven sometimes even average QBs. Thus we are gonna have to pay Cam a hell of a lot of money regardless of any post season W's and L's.
