Wilson and Ben are champions while also playing at a high level (top 10 QB ratings). They get clearly placed above Cam.

Ryan has had success in the playoffs while at times playing ELITE passing wise while also being ahead of Cam in the rankings year in year out. Thus he clearly gets placed ahead of Cam.

Championships and playoff success are team numbers. Very rarely does it say anything about the QB, it always tells you about the team though.

Case in point

1st example, take Jones away from Ryan and he looks like a slightly above average QB. Which is what he is. he's not elite, but he's always had elite targets to through the ball too. Watch a Falcons game and see how wide open Jones gets. Playoff success???? 1-4 in the playoffs with 9 TD's and 7 int plus 2 fumbles. Hmmmmm..... I don't see no success here.

2nd example, Big Ben missed 4 games in 2005, didn't pass for more then 2500 yards, and had one of his worst seasons in 2008. Both championship seasons and neither was because of Ben.

Also has a QB rating of 82 this season, which is not top ten. 2 Super Bowl wins, QB rating of 22 in one and 93 in the other, 3 TD's and 5 int in the three he's been in. Thrown an int in all three games. Big time, big game player here... Cost his team one and nearly cost his team another, great defense though.

3rd example, Wilson..... Lol at Wilson being ahead of Cam. Wilson has the better team, OL, Rb, special teams and defense. QBR slightly above average and teams have to contend with Lynch. 11 fumbles and 19 int and 73 sacks on around 900 drop backs. Another 4 fumbles on 200 rushes. Barely over 3000 yards both seasons......yeah that's a top ten QB. Will say this though, he played well in the Super Bowl and could become an Elite QB.

Rivers

Big Ben

Brady

Romo

Ryan

Wilson

Cutler/Stafford/Dalton can make an argument for all those being around Cam's level if not better.

Dalton? Are fuging serious? And an argument can be serious made that Cam is better than Cutler, stafford, wilson, etc.

Cam Newton is not only a great player but he is box office as well. The little Nat'l attention we do get is because of Cam. We have to keep this guy in Carolina till he retires.

When was the last time a Carolina Panther had multiple Nat'l commercials?

It's more than football with Cam, he makes us a lot of money off the field as well.

We about to play in primetime on Sunday Night Football, I wonder why?

Pay that man JR!

If Cam wants money like that he needs to win in the playoffs period.  I'm all for paying the man, but the biggest contract in NFL history warrants at least 1 playoff win.

How in the hell are we supposed to do this and sign Kuechly?  Do we want any other players?  Are just going to have 20 1 year contracts for the league minimum per year?

Cam if you win in the playoffs get your money.

If you can't take us to the NFCCG you need to lower your price by 5 mill per year.

Dalton has never won in the playoffs and still got ridiculous money. And has in fact been horrible in the playoffs. Cam will be getting a good contract regardless.

Yeah I think he got 5 mill per year less.  I'd be all for matching the contract and even exceeding it by a mil per year....but 5?  It's such a big contract that it makes another 5 mil seem like nothing.  Do you know how many players we signed with 5 mill this past off season?

I like Cam, but man, he hasn't even won a single playoff game.

Giving that kind of money with the likes of the elite super bowl winners is unnerving.

Dalton got his money while being horrible in the playoffs. You don't need to show that you win playoff games in the NFL to get good contracts. All you need is the potential for a GM to gamble on that you will eventually get the job done otherwise dalton would have never got the contract that he got. And Cam is way better than Dalton. You people are delusional if you think Cam is not getting a similar contract to Dalton even if he doesn't win a playoff game this year. Two time pro bowl QB's like Cam don't just grow on trees. So many franchises are in a dumpster because they can't find good QB play. CAM WILL BE PAID. How much is a debate between Cam's agent and gettleman but don't expect gettleman to let Cam walk unless he is sticking to some outrageous price and unwilling to budge. And I doubt Cam is the type not to be negotiable with Gettleman about his contract.

People are just throwing up numbers right now. I'm sure Cam will be negotiable about his contract to go maybe even less than Dalton. Cam cares about winning more than anything so as long as he is paid near dalton I think he will be OK. I don't think one of his goals is to be highest paid or whatever .

I hope that's the case.  Cam's my favorite player and he is invaluable to the team.  However what would be the point of signing Cam to that kind of contract if we didn't have the ability to put a decent team around him?  I'd rather have a SB then a superstar.  Even though I'd prefer to have both.

I think you are comparing his contract to the wrong guy, I think he will want a Kapernick type deal.

Just my opinion...
