Mike Mitchell talks about playing the Panthers

Watching him last week, I kinda wondered if maybe he wasn't fully acclimated to the Steelers system yet.

Steelers need a fairly disciplined S next to Troy....Troy makes a lot of plays but he often doesn't it bc he is allowed to gamble and play wild. Not having a sound guy IMO means lots of potential plays can be made against there secondary for gambling

Didn't Mitchell have kind of rep for freelancing himself?

"Old friends"

The right words.

Better than 'new enemies'

Yeah, not a dirty player. AT ALL.

Mike Mitchell: Rules are going to make me hit 'everyone in the knees'

"It's going to make me start hitting everyone in the knees, to be totally honest with you,'" he said. "It's not a thing where I am trying to play dirty, but I was legitimately aiming for Steve's waist and he ducked. If you look at the replay, I still truly, strongly believe it was a shoulder to shoulder hit. I think the violence of the hit may be why the flag was thrown."

Would've loved to have kept Mitchell, but maybe at about half of what the Steelers gave him. When another team offers a player like Mitchell that type of contract, you do what Gettleman did. Shake his hand and wish him luck. No hard feelings. I would've left too if I was him. I think we did what was best for us and he did what was best for him. I don't blame either side for him no longer being here.

I like Mike Mitchell. I kinda wish we could've found a way to pay him peanuts again and have him stay. :(

Always made me wonder why we didn't offer him a multi year deal when we signed him. I realize he was JAG until he got here, but he would have been a cheap sign.

Then again, they didn't ask me.

Could of kept Mitchell if the Panthers didn't franchise a player that isn't even suiting up.

Even without Hardy's franchise Carolina wouldn't pay him anywhere near what Pitt did. If you don't believe it, Carolina's safety play this year is Exhibit A; DeCoud and Harper combined are making about 75% of what Mitchell makes and the play has been just as good as last year through two games.
