I have to agree with the folks who say depth is probably the big factor here.

Oh yeah.. If Williams is still down we need Reaves. But Rivera said he wasn't worried about DWill (although setbacks do happen)

Since I had my heart set on watching football tonight and that garbage I was subjected to was barely football, I went and took a look at most of Hill's targets last season.

Before I even get to Hill, the first thing that stood out was just how awful Geno Smith is. There were deep routes he'd miss Hill on, or wait too long and the window would close. It's seriously hard to judge Hill given his circumstances.

Alot of Hill's catches just came on underneath routes. They really didn't have Hill run a variety of routes. Almost seemed to be underneath crossing or a go. This kid was raw coming out as it was, I'm not sure the Jets did a single thing to help develop him. Hill's hands aren't as bad as people make them out to be, given most passes weren't very accurate to begin with. However, Hill does need to work on hand placement when catching, I believe this has been mentioned. Hill could very well need an entire year on the PS but his speed may promote him sooner due to our lack of it.

I'd be all for letting Hill get a shot. Use him situationally and don't ask too much of him. Hill took the top of the Steelers D last year when they played them but Geno, being Geno missed him.

Rivera says the team will discuss potential roster moves tomorrow. "If we don't have to, we won't." Staff is confident in DL depth.

 

 

Sounds like they may stand pat.  But if they do choose to make a move, it'll be tomorrow.

 

If it does get done tomorrow, I'd guess it pretty much has to be a practice squad guy.

 

If they wait till next week, who knows?

Latest injury report shows thusly...

 

RB DeAngelo Williams - Questionable

RB Fozzy Whittaker - Doubtful

WR Jerricho Cotchery - Questionable

WR Jason Avant - Questionable

 

Everyone else is listed as probable, and Whittaker likely would have been inactive anyway.

 

So only one RB down, two receivers, but we have more receivers available depth wise.

 

In light of that, any predictions?

I think that's more DE depth roster move, I'm certain they'll add a offense guy bc why not? Extra body just in case. I think they'd rather have a guy and not need him than need a guy and not have him.

If Cotch and Javante are indeed gonna miss some time they'd have to activate Hill. KB, Bersin and Philly Brown are inexperienced and rolling 3 deep at WR is def not wise.

However, if Cotch and Javante were on the wrong side of questionable, I do feel like Hill or Mucas would have been added to the 53 by now.
