Hardy on Exempt List

Can anyone please explain what exactly the "Exempt List" is?

from my understanding - you get paid to stay at home, but doesn't count to your contract in terms of years- so I'm assuming Hardy's franchise tag would stand as of next year IF the Panthers kept him (which won't happen at this point)

"The Exempt List is a special player status available to clubs only in unusual circumstances. The List includes those players who have been declared by the Commissioner to be temporarily exempt from counting within the Active List limit. Only the Commissioner has the authority to place a player on the Exempt List; clubs have no such authority, and no exemption, regardless of circumstances, is automatic. The Commissioner also has the authority to determine in advance whether a player's time on the Exempt List will be finite or will continue until the Commissioner deems the exemption should be lifted and the player returned to the Active List."

Just another vampire who smells blood. They're coming out the woodwork now. 2007? Come the fug on. It's not Goodell's job to give you justice lady.

Media ignores it for two months.  Then goes on a witch hunt when the Ray Rice video comes out.   Then only uses information making hardy looking guilty, without probably looking into anything supporting him. I don't believe either side is telling the truth and it is messy all the way around, but it just feels like the media was determined that he wasn't going to play.

Something just doesn't feel right about the process.

Welcome to America I guess.

I am not a fan of what he allegedly did. If what he is accused of is true I would find it hard to ever root for him again. I just find it hard to believe there is not of breach of contract if found guilty.

Seems like Panthers are getting screwed by caving into what others and the NFL wants which is to have Hardy out of the limelight to limit bad PR before he the entire thing plays out in court. The Panthers get hit with 13MM cap and don't even get any services in return.

They've stated directly that they're not bringing any lawsuit.

And disciplining players under the personal conduct policy actually is Goodell's job.
