Goodell needs to be fired

Budweiser has expressed dissatisfaction with the NFL's current image problems.

Rumblings that Pepsico isn't happy either.

I'm not surprised by that, and that's the reason for the actions in the last 12+ hours.  Always keep in mind that they don't care all that much about losing some fans support, its always all about the sponsors.

And for those of you that think congress would act on tightening down on the NFL.  Really now?  You really think that a congress that can do much of anything anymore given how both political parties are so paralyzed in their own thinking could get together and really do something about the NFL?  Don't make laugh...

where is the players union on any of this??? crickets from them.

If we ever needed proof that there bascially isn't a players union at this point, then this is it.  Their guys are being drug through the mud by the media, and as a result by their teams/league, and the union appears to have no opinion about any of it.

Guess whatever union leadership there is is just as gutless as the NFL leadership.  They truly deserve each other.

All this hell raising including the hell raising about the redskins nickname comes from non NFL fans.  Just a bunch of do gooder liberals that got nothing better to do.   Tell them to go sew up a quilt!  Do something useful and mind your own business.  THEY ARE NOT EVEN NFL FANS!

IMO, Goodell has been navigating through uncharted waters. With the media, social networks, and twitter everywhere at every moment, his job is more scrutinized than ever before. He doesn't have the luxury of taking his time to make decisions as a past Comish could.

He is betwixt a rock and a hard place. Wanting to do what's right takes time. Time that he does not get in this day and age. In this Instant Society we live in, folks want it now. Giving rise to decisions made in haste, instead of having time to put the proper thought each case warrants.

People don't care about getting things right. They just want it now. Fug it if it is wrong, I want it now. Fugged if you get it wrong, fugged if you wait to get it right.

He is considered not guilty.....trial de novo look it up

In the court of Public Opinion, he is guilty. There would be no need of an appeal if he wasn't found Guilty.

Folks don't have the patience to let the process play out. They want their justice NOW.

As soon as he was granted a jury trial, his guilty verdict was set aside. In the eyes of the NC law, he is currently innocent until proven guilty during that jury trial.

People see Guilty. They don't care about due process. A Judge found him Guilty. Fug due process in this day and age.

Goodell is getting roasted, but somehow the NFLPA and the media are not getting any heat. Have you ever considered that the 2-game suspension was simply done in order to get it through without an appeal from the NFLPA? Goodell is hired by the owners to make them money and protect their interests. They didn't want this to drag on and stay in the news with the NFLPA appealing and whatnot, hence 2-games. It was a horrible misjudgment, but let's not pretend like Roger Goodell should be our moral compass...that's not his job.

Meanwhile, the media are a bunch of hypocrites. They wanna hold Carolina over the flames for not taking any action before now, but they didn't care a lick before the Rice video got out. And all this time the NFLPA has just sat back and done absolutely nothing to protect their players. They're appealing Rice's suspension now, but haven't said a thing regarding the Hardy situation. If ever there was a situation they needed to get involved in, it would be one like Hardy's where the case calls for due process and the media is trying to pressure the league into not allowing it to take place.

Aside from the individual incidents themselves and the offenders, the overall situation is all on Roger.

Goodell in is his disciplinarian role has drummed up a huge sh*tstorm because he completely mishandled the Ray Rice situation.  This caused 4 situations to blow up in his face.  They are beginning to ruin the credibility of the league no matter if the party is guilty or not and are getting the sponsors now in a bit of a predicament.  The media will be the media and he handed them the situation on a gold platter with either a sh*tty investigation or refusing to release the 2nd tape or watch it or all of the above.

It was on him for mishandling Rice.  If that would've been a competent 6 game/season long suspension from the get-go, none of this would've happened.

He's the clear scapegoat and eventually it will become clear to owners that he needs to go.

Would it be too much to ask for the guy making 40 million dollars a year to come out and explain what the fug is going on or hold a presser or something other than hiding ?

You call it hiding. I call it putting in the time needed to figure this all out. Why continue this mess, when taking a few more days to have a comprehensive plan to put into place could go a long way towards moving this forward?

Two sides to the story. And we have no idea what is actually going on behind closed doors.

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
