The Greg Hardy thread....for everything Hardy related

Perhaps the best thing that fans of Greg Hardy could do is stop talking about the situation all together.  It's obvious that the media is a big reason for all of this.  The storm that Ray Rice has created is now looking to for more stories to feed it.  Once the public doesn't become interested anymore, the media will stop with all the articles.  I'm not condoning violence against women in anyway.  It just appears like Hardy is being charged with the crime before he has had a chance to plead his case in front of a jury of his peers.

This team is going to be ok regardless of whether Hardy plays or not.  Sure the cap $ wasted on non-productive time on the roster are going to hurt but what's done is done.

This is why I want the NFL to just go ahead and step in, regarding Hardy.  This is not going to get any better, anytime soon.  The heat is going to be on us until something happens.  At this point, I don't give a poo if he's here or not... I'm more interested in what's best for the team.  First, we're wasting the cap money, as stated above in the quote, if we deactivate/suspend/cut Hardy as a team.  However, if the NFL suspends him, we don't have to pay him. That's $770k per game.  To put that into perspective, we're paying Mario Addison $645k for the whole season.

Secondly, all of this attention is starting to be a distraction to our other players, and we don't need that poo.  Doesn't matter what anyone in the locker room says, this will start to affect them, and in turn, affect their play.  The longer it goes on, the more it's going to wear on them mentally.  Get him the hell out of here IMO, c'mon NFL do it!  It's like Rivera said - if he plays and we win, then we're insensitive assholes, if he plays and we lose, he's a distraction to the team.  Just do the damn thing and let's move on.

the problem in the Hardy case is that WE as fans have not spoken up enough and allowed the media to run Hardy into the ground and group his situation with the rice and Peterson situation (which are completely different)...

We need to be more outspoken.

I see your We havent spoken enough and raise you Hardy hasnt spoken at all.

I dont think he made any public statements. I think he underestimated his situation. Fans cant defend him if they dont have a reason.

So we are going to put him on exemption list for ~10 weeks until his court date?  And then if is he convicted, suspend for another 6?  Stupid as hell.

The easy answer should be deactivate for 6 games.  If he's not guilty, apologize to him but say media forced it.  If he is guilty, he has already served 6 game suspension so fine him for 6 game checks and donate to charity.    Media will shut the hell up.

I don't think its right, but we should just man up and hold him out for the 6 games so that he can then come back and play regardless of what happens with his trial.  If the media thinks thats still too lenient then JR should hold a press conference and tell them all to fug themselves.

If he's convicted, I would hope the Panthers go ahead and release him.  We don't need that kind of distraction.

Unfortunately he has to remain quiet. "everything you say and do can be used against u in a court of law." It doesn't end once walks out of jail. He has to allow the process to play out.

I am sure a man like him would LOVE to come out and say something. I am sure it would be candid.

he just cannot do it right now.

The distraction now is worse than it would be once a verdict is determined. Especially if he's already been punished.

Of course, I don't think they could suspend him right now for domestic violence, if his case still haven't been resolved.  If we were to give him six games suspension, the NFLPA would be all up in our grill.  Who knows how that would effect the organization.  The only thing to do is to put him on this exempt list, and hope he's found innocent in November.
