PFT: NFL may suspend Hardy

It's time for the Panthers/League to suspend Hardy for the next however many games and end this news cycle. He'll be back for the 2nd half of the season, having "paid for his actions" and ready for a playoff drive. This will allow the team to concentrate on playing football rather than the "elephant in the room". Secondarily, his forfeited salary will be recaptured and added back to our salary cap next year, which will help in signing Cam and maybe Luke.

I just don't think people understand how scary the media is getting these days.  They hold tremendous power when it comes to public opinion.  Public opinion turns into real power when it causes an outcry like what we're currently seeing.  It's not a good thing when the media is allowed to act like a lynch mob with zero accountability.  If and when Hardy is exonerated, you know how many media outlets will run stories about it and offer apologies for their over the top reactions?  Not one.  They'll be several big stories past that one at that point.  The media pulls at emotional strings because that's what gets viewers and leaves a trail of carnage in their path, but they have no accountability for their actions.

Way to go Gett Dawg. 13 mil well spent. His only truly bonehead move of his tenure so far IMO. Should have let him walk from the start

well it isn't like he tagged Hardy after the incident.  please tell us other moves that will be bad because of future unknown incidents, so we dont waste time and money.

I think the Panthers would love to do this but they are limited on what they can do by the CBA.  They are waiting on the League to lead them  (hahaha).

Also, the NFLPA will have recourse against the Panthers if they move independently of the League.

Best course of action for all,  but not one I'm sure Hardy's lawyers will take?  Send their paid transcript of the Bench Trial testimony to the league office (certified mail) along with any other evidence supporting their client.  Of course, in so doing they jeopardize that information will then be provided to competing attorneys in the all-important (to the attorneys) civil suit which will determine how much they (lawyers) each get paid.

Once the information is there, the new NFL guru can declare Hardy suspended for 6 games and everyone will gladly move on.

Delay the trial will also be nice if this happens.

Hardy's lawyers need to send a letter to Bon Ley, Keith Olbermann, ESPN, & all these other trolls that are spewing lies about Hardy. Lay out in writing the current legal standing of Greg and let them know that they better stop slandering his name and reporting bold face lies about him being convicted and other nonsense. And warn that if they do not stop immediately, after his trial confirms his innocence they will aggressively pursue them in court with lawsuits.

If the NFL suspends him and he is found not guilty in November, he is going to have one helluva law suit to pursue. I know I would...

How did Big Ben's lawsuit work out when he wasn't even formally charged? It isn't all about the trial with the NFL. The process sure is shrouded in fog though.

Did Ben file a lawsuit against the NFL or the Steelers?

Fwiw, they could probably ban Hardy for hanging out with coked up girls and having a pile of guns laying on his bed as a code of conduct violation.  But if he is banned for the domestic violence, and then is found not guilty, he might have legit grounds for a lawsuit.

Something needs to be done one way or another with a formal public explanation whether it be regarding the NC Trial process or a 6-game suspension decision.

Can't stay in limbo week-to-week.  Either get him away or explain thoroughly why you're not.

Like I said in the Ray Rice thread, these are crazy times where the media basically overrides any type of due process. ESPN, TMZ, CNN basically create, dictate, influence opinions as well as policies whether it is sports, politics or economics

I'm not excusing domestic violence, but these people are not angels .... fugg, I know I am not. They'll get their day in court and the NFL's ruling should be proportional with the legal system. We need to let the legal system work. Our personal moral judgement of others should not turn into witch-hunt every time the media decides that this is the latest outrage.  I hope Hardy goes after these fuggers if he is not found guilty.

Hate to be dramatic, but this is the beginning of the end when a free society turns into a Roman mob
