PFT: NFL may suspend Hardy

The NFL isn't any different than any other business. While it sucks, I certainly don't feel sorry for multi-million dollar athletes who face the same problems as every other working American. They are the bottom rung workers of the league. They will bend over and take whatever they are given. Just the way it is.

If Hardy is suspended and then found not guilty in the jury trial he technically has legal recourse to sue in an effort to recoup lost wages and/or damages in reputation that result from the suspension on his record.  Hardy could do this on his own or the NFLPA might try to get into the fight just to have a position opposite the shield.

No matter what,  I dont know how probable it would be for him to get a dime out of the NFL.  There is precedent for suspensions without legal convictions and whats more, the NFL only needs to prove that there was some type of action(s) taken by Hardy that were in conflict with the NFL personal conduct policy.

That said, I am no lawyer but the mere mention of the word combination alcohol, guns and cocaine that surround this incident are probably enough to discount the merits of a civil lawsuit.

at this point i don't think the verdict in the trial should even matter.  sue on grounds that the league isn't following the CBA and they are dishing out arbitrary punishments in reaction to a public outcry that they brought on themselves.  at the very least they should appeal their suspensions (hypothetical in hardy's case).  i think rice, hardy, etc would have a good case here.  don't even sue for back-pay.  sue on the principle of the nfl trying to fix their own incompetence at the expense of the players.  get all the league's incompetence out there, on record.  the entire league office needs to be overhauled.

Way to go Gett Dawg. 13 mil well spent. His only truly bonehead move of his tenure so far IMO. Should have let him walk from the start

Because Gettleman can see into the future and know Hardy would have an incident weeks after they tagged him.  Get real.  Hardy has always been different, but it's not like this guy had previously troubles off the field with the Panthers.

Who knows what the NFL will do, but it'll probably be something stupid.  I in no way shape or form support Ray Rice etc etc, but the NFL has gone from giving him a 2 game suspension after they had at the very least seen the video of him dragging him from the elevator.  Then they change it to 6 games, but decide to resuspend Rice indefinitely, "after" seeing the other video.  How do you change the rule to 6 games, and then days later suspend someone indefinitely?  The NFL is going to make up their rules as they go along, to appease the media.

Frankly, I barely care anymore.

Yes, he may be getting railroaded by media pressure. On the other hand, after agreeing to take $13 million of the Panther's money, he chose to hang out with a coked up woman, let her into his house, show off his guns, etc.

I'm not one to criticize any one of the above behaviors depending on the context. But when you've just been paid that kind of money, the least you could be expected to do is act responsibly, And no one can argue he was acting responsibly.

The person to get pissed at is Hardy. Not the judge, not the fuged up media, not the league office.

At the end of the day this is the hard truth but the NFL is still colossally f'ng up this whole thing.  They're going after the guy with no witnesses, who's in the court process, and is claiming innocence.  If he is not-guilty, they are going to look even worse.

For the people who are saying its Hardy's faulty my question is this. How many of you or your friends have ever had a crazy ex? The only difference is we don't make millions and our jobs don't punish us for mistakes like the NFL.

Technically it's still everyone's decision whether they keep company with the 'crazy chick' or not.

We've probably all known some couple that everybody knew shouldn't be together...Everyone except them, of course.

But they're adults.  It's up to them to make choices.

Like it or not, Hardy is ultimately the person most responsible for the spot he's in.

Just heard on ESPN radio that they are running a 2 hour special tonight on Hardy and either RR or AP (didn't hear and process the name, my ears perked when I heard Hardy's name)  and the problems in the NFL.

More pressure, you know they will have it on repeat for the rest of the week. I'm getting so feed up with how the media handles everything. They blow everything up, the Monday the RR video was released they acted like a bunch of children hyped up on candy.

Ugh.
