PFT: NFL may suspend Hardy

Irsay was suspended 6 games and fined $500k but it didn't happen until his legal case was concluded. Hardy should get the benefit of the same policy granted to the owners.

I agree he SHOULD. The question is is it breaking any rules if he doesn't get that benefit. From my understanding so far the answer would be no.

My opinion: You let him play! He has not been convicted. What I remember was hardy had a good defense vs that chick and it was a" he said she said" case but the judge charged him any ways? Am I right? I would understand if there's video or something. Play him and wait for the verdict!

Ib4: grammar police

This case should have been thrown out of court but the woman judge did not have enough balls (no pun intended) to do the right thing because she was afraid of the back lash she would receive.

I've heard that too. Also have heard other panther fans and fans in general claiming video evidence shows hardy is guilty. Where are they getting that info? The media.

This is a straight up character assassination.

The people that are upset about NFL players needing to clean up their act should be spending their time and energy getting the media to clean up theirs. Seems the media can say anything false or slanted they chose and get away with it. This is not freedom of the press,it's nothing  but a scarey outrage of peoples rights.

The problem is that our team is getting fugged by this tug of war between the media, the mob and the NFL. If the NFL is gonna suspend him, then they should do so and stand by their decision. If he cannot play, the NFL should say so asap. Hardy's stuff happened months ago, so they have all the facts that they need.  I don't want this lingering throughout the season. I don't like this whole "let's keep him inactive while this fake mob outrage plays out" stuff.

It makes people mad when I don't say something that is inaccurate but pro Panthers, but regardless of what anyone thinks of the verdict, Hardy was found guilty in a court of law.  The NFL has suspended player (Big Ben, for example) before charges.  They are not worried about what is legal, they are worried about their image.

Having said that, the NFLPA has no leg to stand on if they suspend Hardy without pay because they have a verdict.  I imagine they will suspend him and reinstate him in November if he wins the jury trial.  I would say that Hardy does not get a long-term deal here.  He may have played his last game, as you know.

I love Hardy the player, but I do not want to cheer for him yet.  I take this seriously, and it is bigger than football. I do not want to pull for a team that tolerates beating women.

Technically it's still everyone's decision whether they keep company with the 'crazy chick' or not.

We've probably all known some couple that everybody knew shouldn't be together...Everyone except them, of course.

But they're adults.  It's up to them to make choices.

Like it or not, Hardy is ultimately the person most responsible for the spot he's in.

No one goes though life without mistakes though. That's where wisdom comes from and we all have leaned that way. Hardy was trying to do the right thing to rid himself of a bad mistake yet still is getting punished for it. His ex was breaking about 3 laws that night and yet still Hardy is the only one that will see the punishment. That's the way the world works these days and that's whats wrong with the world.

I'm getting sick of hearing about how Hardy is appealing his guilty verdict... he's not, he has invoked his right under NC law to request a trial by jury and the prior guilty verdict has no bearing on that - IT'S A NEW TRIAL.

You may agree or disagree with the law, but that's the way it works in NC so it's totally unfair to characterize it as an appeal of a guilty verdict.

Judges in NC know this so if they think there's even the slightest chance that the accused is guilty, it makes sense for them to render a guilty verdict so the case can move on to a real trial.

I don't know what Hardy did, but he claims he is innocent so I think he is entitled to a presumption of innocence until he has his real day in court. Suspending players based only on accusations is a very slippery slope.

Wow, the media is on a witch hunt with these NFL players and their private lives. I wonder how many of those same guys who are attacking Hardy and Rice are lucky that those running the sports media during their time weren't as obsessed with wanting to control every facet of their lives as players on and off the field. We all know there are some real women beaters among those scorning Ray and hardy. Can't wait until one of them have their glass houses broken, then watch them run off with their tails between their legs. Arrogance is truly the breakfast  of Champions.

O.J. Simpson is still alive and well in the minds of some.

O.J. Simpson is still alive and well in the minds of some.

The media is gushing all over itself in the glow of their seemingly limitless power.

The only thing that makes them powerful is the sheep who listen.

It is important to remember who they are and what their role is.

The most powerful media icons on the planet are employed and broadcast for one reason and one reason only.

To sell ad space for profit.

That's it.

They don't want to tell you something, they want to sell you something.

There are no good ones. There are no exemptions from this rule.

Given similar influence and opportunity the Mayberry reporter on the local PTA beat would be as bad as anyone you can think of currently holding kangaroo court in America today.

To them, these issues have nothing to do with moral compass or what's right and wrong. It's about a Budweiser contract and how much they can influence it.

Whether or not Hardy physically beat a person to within an inch of her life or looked at her wrong is irrelevant to these people.

The question is whether or not Hardy committed any act that would garner enough public opinion to allow the media parrots to seep in and cause significant impact on a profit stream.

It's that simple and I constantly have to remind myself of it.

In reality, if we lose him for another game or forever it's because he messed with the money and has nothing to do with the alleged crime.

To clarify my position on media, it's not all bad. We just need to be intelligent to understand that it's entertainment and nothing more. These people don't care about the truth and even if they did they are controlled by somebody, somewhere who isn't.
