There isn't going to be a real boycott over this. People who never go there anyway will be the ones who "boycott".

You're probably right as far as it being a significant number of people. However, the Steelers fans will be in Charlotte and going out anyway. If it was just one bar trying to attract them to monopolize their business, I can see that, but an entire pub crawl? That kind of defeats the purpose of catering to the carpet baggers.

It doesn't seem worth risking pissing off your regular clientele, but I suppose their regulars don't care.

I give Carolina Nightlife credit for admitting they were wrong here and for taking the high road in canceling the event. I am an event creator so I know what he was trying to do. As a Panthers fan I forgive him for inviting the Steelers to takeover our city. 

 

Hunter Wilson Jenna Gribble, we were trying to offer a different event for the Charlotteans that are Steeler fans. Not all of our events tailor to everyone's interests, I know that. I made a mistake with this one and will be canceling the event today. We/I am not a Steelers fan. However, I am Charlottean and I recognize that a great deal of my neighbors in Charlotte are Steeler fans. I respect their interest as I hope they would respect mine and was trying to offer an event that was for them. My apologies.

They deserve forgiveness.  Also pleased that we were able to take a stand and show them that despite good intentions, there is no place for this here.  We certainly wouldn't get any events in Pittsburgh unless we coordinated a tailgate/non-sponsored event ourselves, AS IT SHOULD BE.  Keep Pounding Panther fans.  We can continue to change the culture for us and our future generations of fans.  Charlotte is our city, and anyone coming in wearing opposing teams gear SHOULD NOT and WILL NOT feel at home.  That and feeling "hospitality" are two completely different things.  

 

So Steelers fans, come in, enjoy our local bars and our Panther logos on the walls and root hard for your grandmother's favorite team.  Hope you have a great stay and a safe drive back to Cary.  Go Panthers
