Watching the Colts Eagles game

Yeah, but you're never going to eliminate that. It's part of the game, and they're many factors for it.

You can't always throw off your front foot in a dirty pocket (as far as your potential Rivera comments).

Notice Cam sailed very few the last game, and he still threw some off his back foot?

Having better receivers who can catch those balls make a big difference as well. Last two years Cam's receivers were substandard and missing balls that most NFL receivers catch on the regular.

High passes aren't necessarily UN-catchable (unless you were a Carolina receiver last year). I see numerous QB's sail passes every NFL game, and their caught by their receivers.

This is why Gettleman cleaned house last year, to the bewilderment of most in the National media. They sucked!

I've seen him throw passes that sail way off the mark when the pocket is clean. That's an area he can work on. Yes there is no way to completely eliminate that.

Then learn how to appreciate Luck, Kaep, Wilson, RG3, etc as well. Maybe you should be one of those people at the sports bars asking for Colts game to be on tv (which they are anyways).

Why would I ask for the Colts game to be on?  I just stated I want people to want to watch the Panthers, not the Colts.

I do appreciate Russel Wilson.  I think he's a heck of a football player and runs that offense ideally.  I also appreciate Luck.  He is not where most people think he is though.  He is good, and will get better.  The others, not so much.

Thats why you should be watching this game.  Point is quarterbacks (even great ones) miss, and more often then you'd think.

The majority of Cam's overthrows are when he's facing inside pressure and throws off his back foot.

I'm watching Luck consistently miss downfield throws, with good protection and open receivers.  He's scored 3 touchdowns on dump-off passes and completed maybe 3 passes downfield.

Yes I'm watching this game. Yes all QBs miss passes, and some sail too high. I'm not saying that only Cam sails passes. Who would say such a thing?

My buddy is a huge Eagles fan and I swear he has wet dreams about that offense with Cam Newton.

Im not afraid or ashamed to say that I am a former Eagles fan but after watching them just screw up so many times I couldn't take it. Plus Im in love with Cam as a player and really in his sophomore year I fell in love with the team. I wanted so bad and told so many of my friends that the Eagles should have broke the bank to get that number 1 pick the year Cam came out. I just knew that had the Eagles got Cam and Andy Ried would have had him that Cam would be something supernatural. And I'll be damned if turns out to be something supernatural anyway lol. So yeah that's really the only thing that's missing is a true OC to groom him on the minute things.

Yeah, my point is though; unless you're drew Brees and Peyton Manning (and even they miss bad sometimes), all QB's miss short, high or wide several times a game, even when a guy is wide open.

Notice Derek Anderson was missing short, or throwing behind his receivers the first game (and in preseason)?

I'm not sure how many NFL games you watch on the regular. But when you do, you see it every week. Last year in the playoff's Dalton, Brees, etc., were missing on the regular (as most NFL QB's do every game).

However, it appears so many Panther fans feel when Newton misses, its' abnormal and other QB's  don't do that. SMH

You're gonna have a tough fight with Jon Gruden to get some time in Luck's lap.  Gruden's been getting those tonsils massaged all night long.

Try this.  Put on MNF and when Gruden starts to speak, close your eyes and imagine he's your rambling drunk friend.

I'm convinced he's reliant on alcohol to do his job.

I don't think we're on the same page here. Just because I say that Cam needs to work on sailing passes high, that does not in any way imply that I think other QBs don't sail passes, or otherwise make errant throws. I didn't say anything like that. You're making an argument with me based on things said by other posters. I didn't say any of these things.

Tirico made sure to throw the WR under the bus on that INT before they cut to commercial. "Good pass from Luck but the WR fell down on that one."

Then Gruden blamed the officials when they came back. "Clearly should've been PI or holding, or something."

Bull crap. Luck saw pressure and flung the ball towards 3 defenders.

    • Does anyone know what the beginning of the league year means in terms of signing FAs? Anything? Will we just see a handful of guys released into the FA pool?
    • This is an excellent synopsis!  Our WR group is a 34 year old man who has had a hellova career, but can't keep it up forever. A draft reach who only produced 1 season in college and was seen as a project with a tremendous ceiling IF he hits his potential. I really hope that 2024 was essentially a redshirt year for him. And finally a UDFA that didn't get any real time until we were more than halfway through last season. AND THAT'S ALL. We need at least 3 more players, one of which has to start day 1.
    • Oh good grief. You can give him credit for the good without just glossing over the bad and pretending like we were not absolute hot garbage at certain points last season when the games still mattered and people were just complaining to complain. Make no mistake. While we hold Morgan in regard and like him a great deal because he's a former franchise player. He has to prove he can build this team through the draft just as much as any Panthers coach or player has to prove it out there on the field. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging these plain truths.
