PFF now Loves Keuchly

1. Do you follow statistics? Or is that a boring ass math?

2. He's started off very efficiently and there isn't a lot of good QB play so far this year. It will level off. PFF doesn't rank off of what we all know. Of course Tannehill isn't the 2nd best QB in the league. But they have a system in place and based on the production of the first two weeks Tannehill is doing pretty well compared to the rest of the league.

This isn't very difficult to figure out.

Have to disagree here. Nothing's about yesterday's game screamed efficient. 4.9 YPA? That's Gabbert tier. And Tannehill just has no deep ball of which to speak. He's had trouble with it under two OCs now (granted, yes, only two games into this OC). Yet he's always been highly rated by PFF (I believe he finished top 10 last year).

They track individual performances, judge them on a series of metrics, then give them a +/- based on the average performance at their position, or how positively/negatively they impacted the game.

this.

in other words, pff doesn't rate players based just on concrete stats.

perfect example...think stewart struggled in the run game against detroit?  nope. he graded positive.

instead of looking at the stat that stewart ran for 2 yards, they look at why he ran for 2 yards.

if he got no help from the oline, punched 3 defenders in the mouth, and dragged 2 more on his back to go 2 yards, he gets a positive score for that run.

if he misses a hole created by the line and goes down on first contact, he grades negative for that run.

[Evan Mathis/PFF comment]

Pretty much my only beef with PFF. Holy poo do they love them some Evan Mathis.

"We're awarding this weeks Mathis award to Lavonte David.

David earned a plus three Mathis grade overall, accruing 2 Mathis points in in the final 3 minutes of the 4th quarter with a stop on 4th and 2 - flying around the Guard and performing a flying Mathis on the RB to seal the game.

Evan Mathis."

I just can't take PFF seriously. Their top 5 QBs through last night (yes, includes yesterday's games):

Matt Ryan
Ryan Tannehill
Aaron Rodgers
Colin "Squidward" Kaepernick
Ryan Fitzpatrick

...wat.

LOL!

That's just indefensible.  If your "system" produces those results, your system is broken.  Squidward single handedly lost the 49ers the game last night.  He was terrible.

Those are individual grades....so yes in theory a QB could play great and his offense totally suck. Team sport. If your WRs and OL do a poo job you offense could do diddly....despite a QB showing up.

Only glaring one is Kapernick. Not sure how last night could of kept his grade up with the 2 games despite such a high week 1

Watt and Sherman were both incredible players, and Watt is maybe the best player in the NFL period. They never once said Kuechly isn't a good player, just that there were players that had better years.

You people are fuging passive aggressive as hell

about anyone in the national media.

It seems like some people are just as obsessive about pointing it out. lol

    • Lower floors than AR coming out, or lower floors than AR now?  Are you counting that he has proven to be a productive goal line back?  AR as a prospect had just about the lowest floor you can possibly have.  Probably the same as Milroe.  Dart's floor looks a lot closer to backup QB to me, but the issue is that his ceiling doesn't look too far from that either. It's crazy that teams are drafting scratch off lottery tickets at QB with 1st round picks.
