Steelers prediction thread...lay it out there now

The Panthers will lay out the Steelers on Sunday night.  I just do not think they have a very good offense, and expect our defense to have another big night.  The offense will continue to get better game in, game out and score more points.

This team wants to be relevant and a nationally televised game against the Steelers to go 3-0 in dominant fashion is a way to do it.

I've paid plenty of attention.  Go back and reread my post - I clearly stated Pittsburgh has shown through 2 games they are not particularly strong at the point of attack.  So unless the game plan is to come out and throw 45 times, Shula will try to establish the run.

The point is to establish the offense and you do that by taking what the defense gives you.  You gameplan against the looks they are going to give you and based on what works you do more of the same or make changes.

But to say that we will run because the last 2 teams had success is naive at best. It is how we match up this game with Pittsburgh and what they are doing based on our personnel not on what other teams did in other weeks.  We always try to establish the run and pass and will do so again this week.  But we won't keep running even if it doesn't work. That was Fox ball not Rivera ball.

Perhaps we'll have a lot more two TE sets this week. So maybe our blocking will be better and with Cam getting more reps in he'll cause the defense to play more conservative.

I agree.  Through 2 game the Steelers haven't been particularly impressive at stopping the run (Cleveland ran for 183 yards on 30 attempts, Baltimore had 157 yards on 36 attempts).  If Shula can mix it up enough with some two TE sets and a balanced run/pass ratio, I don't think there will be much of an issue for the Panther offense to chew up clock and generate some points.

Very true.

Wouldn't be a bad game for Shula to load up on two TE sets.  Just based on what I've seen, I think our offensive line can have success at generating a push against their front.  I think the key to offensive success against Pittsburgh is for Shula to get Shazier, Timmons and Polamalu hesistant enough to limit their impacts.
