Steelers prediction thread...lay it out there now

Big Ben can buy time....that makes him a scarier QB IMO. Bc he isn't scrambling when he does it so he still has most of the field to work with.

That said, at home? If we both play good games we are better.

Biggest concern IMO would be special teams. We are covering kicks poorly and Antonio Brown karate kicks chumps

If yo u have been playing attention the past 2 games you would know we haven't run the ball initially or to excess until we are trying to put the game away in the 4th.  We have come out passing to set up the run given that people are loading the box.  THis week we need the same formula, take what the defense is giving us and mix it up.  Pass when they load the box and run when they expect pass.  It isn't that complicated.

I've paid plenty of attention.  Go back and reread my post - I clearly stated Pittsburgh has shown through 2 games they are not particularly strong at the point of attack.  So unless the game plan is to come out and throw 45 times, Shula will try to establish the run.

I predict that the Carolina Panthers will do their part to make the world a better place on Sunday.

Cause:  Carolina opens up their first two drives with touchdowns.

Effect:  Steeler fans in the stadium become sick.  They no longer feel like eating.  Chickens saved: 50,000

Cause:  For the third week in a row, Carolina holds an opponent to 0 points in the first half.

Effect:  The entire city of Pittsburgh simultaneously shuts off their tv's at halftime.  Electricity saved: 11.5 million watts

Cause:  Run defense is stout, holding L. Bell to under 70 yards rushing and no TDs.

Effect:  The combined groans of the remaining Steeler fans and fantasy football noobs who started Bell even though they know our D is legit increases CO2 produced by 1000%.  Plants created due to increased CO2:  78.6 billion

Cause:  By the fourth quarter the game will be well in hand as Carolina has a 3 TD lead.

Effect:  Steeler fans will leave the stadium in disgust well before the fourth quarter.  Traffic will flow as smoothly as if a game never occurred.  Families will be in a pleasant mood the following Monday.  Workplace productivity will be through the roof.  Total dollars generated in Charlotte on Monday alone: 1.9 trillion.

Cause:  A late field goal will add shame onto an otherwise boring game for neutrals.

Effect:  Pittsburgh will look to tuck their tail and run, but Luke will cut their tail off and use it for his War Headdress for next weeks WW3 vs. Baltimore.  Total asses beaten: 53

We just held a superior Lions' offense to 7 points--granted they missed two field goals, and a TD catch was dropped.  Even add all that up, they still only have like 17 points.  I would find it hard to believe that the Steelers can score more than that.

Panthers win, going uptempo for almost half of their offensive possessions.

27-13

If we stick with the run and stuff their run, we will win. I watched some of the Ravens vs Steelers game and the Ravens O-line was getting a good push all game long (I also recall Cleveland having some success running the ball on them) so I don't think they're particular stout at the point of attack.

I say the game stays close for a half while we try to establish the run, but we pull away in the 2nd half as they start to get gashed in the run game. 24-10

But we always run the same damn run play.

Roethlisberger is a better QB than Stafford.  He will escape pressure and make plays downfield.  I don't expect the Panthers D to hold the Steelers to 7 points, but I don't expect a high scoring affair either.  Carolina builds and early lead, but holds off a late Pittsburgh rally.

Panthers 21

Steelers 17

    • When we drafted Luke, we already had Cam, Smith, Olsen, Stewart, Deangleo, Gross, Kalil, CJ, Hardy, Beason, TD, Gamble (and maybe more I'm forgetting), we had a lot of great pieces in place. Going pure BPA for a player with Luke's potential when the LB you already have is different when you already have all those pieces in place.  Our OL right now is probably in a better shape than that team and our RBs and TE have potential compared to proven vets back then, but after that, the 2012 roster was in a far better shape than we are right now. We need a #1 WR, DEs, LBs, DBs, C, and depending who you ask a QB.  Going BPA at pick #5 when that player is a DT and your current best player on either side of the ball is a DT, seems irresponsible. If he's the only player they like that high left, then you trade back and go with position of more need at a slot that makes sense for the player while adding other picks.  If you trade back and he falls because other teams don't need/want a DT, then you consider him at that point because of the value.
    • This sounds like the same back and forth when we drafted a LB when we already had a LB or as mentioned prior back to back DLs. I want the BPA, if it is another DT so be it. (No not a kicker/punter for those people that think they are funny))
