Yup! I agree.

I think a west coast / fast tempo / no huddle offense is the perfect system for Cam.

Maybe, we should trade Shula for Ben McAdoo bc that west coast if terrible for Eli in NY. Jk. But really Cam is a better fit for a fast tempo offense.

funny, on McAdoo.  That felt doomed, that an offensive minded head coach was getting rid of his system for someone else's.

I agree Cam can be fast tempo.  But, what works best for this team right now is to give him time to get the call, and run what Shula tends to run.   I would like for them to throw in a bit of no-huddle type stuff, though, just because the two-minute drills don't really have the pop they should.

shula is dr jekyll and mr hyde

Half of the playcalling today was very impressive, while the other have was absolutely atrocious and was driving me crazy. Too many times he put the offense in a situation that was going to end up in 3rd and long 90+% of the time. The first FG, we marched right up the field with some great creative play calling. Then we had a 1st down on the 12 yard line, call two throwaway plays that have almost no chance of working, end up in 3rd and 11 and end up kicking a FG. Maddening.

Shula was freaking horrible the first quarter, but made excellent adjustments thereafter. I dig the uptempo adjustment bc it seemed to get the whole offense (not just Cam) into the swing of things.

I think a lot of that was Cam knocking the rust off in the 1st. And yes, the whole offense seemed to react well to it. I think he will continue to do this a lot more this year, while still maintaing a conservative offense. A good balance between the two will do this offense wonders.

Shula seems to call good plays about 70% of the time. The other 30% are horrible. The problem is there is no middle ground. Detroit couldn't stop the pass so between passes we run right up the middle straight into Suh for a loss. He kills drives each game. He WILL lose us games this year we just have to be ready for it.

I usually defend Shula, but I actually thought the playcalling was poor.  We absolutely refused to give Stewart the ball under center outside of a couple of times.  Stewart isn't going to do anything if he is taking the handoff from shotgun and Tolbert especially won't.  Good decision to go up-tempo but I was disappointed, especially after Shula called what I felt was a good game last week.

I don't hate Shula though.  He is a much better OC than people give him credit for.  But I didn't think he called a good game today.
