We are for real

If this team could get a steady running game going, it would be very very hard to beat us. Look at the first two games... game one our starting pro bowl qb is out and we still find a way to win... game two our starting rb and star de is out and we still win. We have so much talent sitting on the bench that it really doesn't matter who starts, everyone is well trained and knows what they're doing. My one concern is that our o-line will struggle to keep Cam upright.

Most of the Carolina fans who don't support Newton is probably because of his race.

Just being honest, Charlotte is the Bible Belt.

Not saying they hate Cam as QB, but they just don't support him as the leader/face of the franchise. There is a reason why Luke is the most popular Panther in Charlotte even though Cam is more well known name outside of Charlotte.

All is good though, we have a great team and i'm proud to be a Carolina Panther fan.

No Cam last week, no problem, no Williams and Hardy this week, still no problem. How many other teams who would be without their #1 QB in week 1 and their #1 RB and one of their best DE's in week 2 still be 2-0? Not many, this team is just awesome

Just goes to show you just how deep our team is.

Secondary looks surprisingly improved.

I agree. Melvin White is playing confident which is outstanding considering he lines up against some of the better receivers in the league and Decoud looks outstanding at free safety. He cause the interception to White. Decoud had megatron tattood to his hip as he deflected that pass.

I am not talking about off-field issues.  As for general maturity, I don't see Cam any more or less mature than his age suggests.

I reject the notion that Cam  has been playing pretty much the same way for the last four seasons. I have seen his development.  He is much more comfortable in the pocket, goes through his progressions with a lot more consistency, and spreads the ball around with much more regularity.  He hardly forced any passes today, and largely used the proper mechanics when he threw the ball.  He showed great vision, and took what the defense gave him.  We could not have said these things this time last year.

lol wut

many of us were critical of cam this time last year for ONLY taking what the defense gave him. then the arizona game happened with all the drops, and at least I was like "oh... carry on."

Defense is still stout. Offense is still conservative, but with better hands at the WR position. and more creative play calling. The special teams is well-coached. Cam is markedly more mature and makes better decisions.  Luke and Thomas Davis have turned it up a notch. Dwan Edwards, who may be the forgotten man, is still solid.  Big Frank and Greg Hardy may not be available, but Addison is not a slouch.

I could go on, but you get the point.  We, and now the rest of the NFL, now know that we are not a team that can be taken lightly under any circumstances this year.

Dawg, I agree in spirit, but you bring up a few points that I saw somewhat differently:

I thought the special team's coverage units needed work.

I thought the offense was more open than in the past.

Good point about Edwards--I would add Cole to that as well.  In fact, all 4 DTs played well.

Addison can pressure the passer---he was awesome, but he was against a scrub.

Cam looked sluggish (footspeed) and slow, which leaves me to believe he is more hurt than we all realize.   I hope the hits he has taken are not adding up already.
