I think that every NFL player should be deactivated pending legal issues. Once a jury determines guilt or innocence, then they can be either reinstated or dismissed. Unfortunately, the NFL's standard of conduct policy hasn't been uniformly followed. Truth be told, Greg should have been deactivated in May until he could resolve his legal issues.  Is it dumb that a bench court screwed him? Absolutely. Is there a gross over reaction by the media? Sure. But in applying an even standard for all players, the deactivation until completion of legal courses should be the new rule for all (this goes for drug issues and anything else that might cause someone to get arrested). I hope Greg wins out and gets the last laugh. 

 

Oh and that BS Ray Lewis said this morning about Greg - pot calling kettle black here. Out of all commentators, he needs to quit piling on. Must be nice to be put on trial for murder, be convicted of obstruction to justice, and still play in the NFL...possibly on his way to Canton. Pathetic. 

 

Deactivated for legal issues that may take up to a year to go to trial?  How is that fair?  We are basically allowing any woman involved with a NFL player to basically blackmail him.  Don't like that he went out late?  Fall on the floor, call the police.  Especially in todays enviroment?  They are throwing you in the clink with no physical evidence, no witnesses, you might now even have to be in the same country.  I think the legal process is what it is...  A legal process.   What's to stop this from applying to everything in life?  Should you lose your job if someone files a charge against you?  If your teenage daughter because you won't allow her to date her boyfriend calls and says you are abusing her should you be suspended from your job?  This damage done to Greg Hardy is immense.  If he is guilty then it's all on him, but if not, this has cost him millions of dollars in FA.   If that's the case who is the real victim?

The Panthers should've got ahead of this early on, issued a statement explaining the law and so forth and stated if Hardy was found guilty he would either be cut or at least suspended for rest of season.

Sucks that they caved to political pressure, but it is what it is.  Guess we will see how good we are without Hardy.

Signing him to a long term contract could have been worse. 

 

Personally, I think he will be found not guilty, but I think there is a good chance the Panthers will let him go anyway just to avoid the headache.  I think tagging him means we can let him go after the season with little or no penalty.

Ronde is so awkward as an announcer. He ends sentences halfway through a thought. It gets worse if he tries to complete that thought. Half of what he says is the opposite of whats happening on the field. Just bad all around.
