So beating a kid for a reason is OK. How do you feel about hitting a women for a reason?

When most of us were growing up, teachers could spank you in front of the class, so surely parents could legally spank you at home. Thus, the answer to your first question is, obviously, yes.

The 2nd question is no adult should ever hit another adult, male or female. No matter your gender, if you can't keep your hands to yourself, you're the problem.

Jesus Hernando Christo he's getting charged for spanking his child with a switch?!  The charge includes the word "injury", so one would have to assume the switch was so big or he hit him so hard he actually caused, you know, an injury.  If it's just a normal switching on the butt or something, then this is absolutely ridiculous.  If he actually broke a bone or caused significant lacerations, then throw the book at him.  This is certainly a case of need more info to formulate an opinion.

There is a difference in beating your child and corporal punishment for discipline. I realize some parents don't believe in it, that's fine that's their prerogative, but the parents that use corporal punishment responsibly shouldn't be looked down on.

If you don't believe in it that's fine, you don't have to be self righteous and pious about it.

Here's how: associating a negative sensation (the sting of a switch on the butt) to inappropriate behavior discourages future such behavior.  Quite simple really.  And no one in my family owns, nor has ever worn flannel...
